Thinking of rust proofing my 16' NX next week. I live in the north east where winters are harsh and roads are salted. Was wondering if anyone has any experience with Krown and the pros and cons of it? Heard that the oil-based spray they use can cause rubber components such as door seals and bushings to swell but I called them today and they told me they put silicone on these parts first before spraying.

Honestly, I wouldn't really worry about it. I have a 08 is350 and a 16 NX and I live in Chicago where the winters are long as we use a lot of road salt. The rust on the is350 is about average, nothing too bad. Unless you really want to keep the car for 40 years i wouldn't worry about it. I just try to get to an indoor car wash after long periods of salting.

All cars are sufficiently corrosion proofed from the factory.

Agree, no need unless it may be worth-while if you plan to keep it over 10 years. In some rare cases, the oil spray has caused some issues with electrical components, sensors, and the like which can risk warranty.

Just get the car washed more often during the winter. I can't stand going to car washes but during the winter I will go only so it sprays under the car. I've done it once a week in the winter and have no issues with other vehicles we have regarding rust.
