Road noise in my 2018 NX300
At most speeds the road noise is quite loud, my 1st SUV I thought this SUV would be quieter than my partners RAV4. What can be done to lessen the noise?

what kind of road noise are you experiencing? Are you comparing the same roads? The nx fsport for example has a much stiffer chasis than a rav4 and also has a sport suspension which would be a little stiffer. If you have lower profile tires than that would also add to road noise. My nx has been on par for road noise with my is350, but no where as smooth as say my mom's es350. The difference is i don't mind a little extra road noise in exchange for the car not feeling like a boat.

Well, after all, it is RAV4. Also, you have rear tire wells inside the passenger compartment. Not in the trunk, separated by rear wall, as in a sedan.
Otherwise, mine is rather very quiet. Especially on good tarmac. Our RX350 is louder.
Next, most of this boils down to tire you rolling on. Touring tires will give you least noise. Aggressive lugs will give more noise. Overinflated tires will give more noise. LIGHT vehicle will be noisier than a loaded one, as it bounces more.
So it depends...

Road noise NX300 2018
Mine not an F Sport, I believe the rear wheel wheels inside passenger compartment will present the noise with SUV, having Michelin All Season tires. Any recommendations re Dynamat or other sound deadners. I have used them on custom rebuilds and Corvettes. What do y'all think? Any other suggestions??

No, the NX doesn’t exhibit the typical quiet Lexus ride, but I have a hard time imagining it would be noisier than the RAV4. I would expect it to be very similar to the RAV. Our RX was quieter, and our current ES is noticeably quieter. I’m afraid I just accept the noise and have not tried to do anything to make it quieter. I was recently in a Jeep Renegade rental and it was a great reminder as to the difference in both sound levels and seat comfort. I don’t think it is especially noisy, I think it just fares poorly when we compare it to most Lexus products.

NX is different kind of vehicle. It does not drive like typical SUV (boat on waterbed). It handles more like a car. My understanding is that it was the goal of Lexus to make a vehicle that will attract buyers that are not keen on too soft and cushioned ride offered by ES or even RX. NX fits that quite well. I do also wish it would be quieter, although it fares quite well compare to BMW X3 (especially engine sound, my comparison only).

My 2018 NX loaner much quieter than my 2016FSport.
While road noise is much louder than 2017FSport RX, we could still carry on decent conversation with XM on low volume while driving to vegas this last weekend.
I rarely drive less than 80 mph.
