Lexus Enform 2.0 to update with Apple CarPlay

Interesting article from Jalopnik states the 2018 Toyota Avalon will be first Toyota product to come with Apple CarPlay. Interestingly, however, not Android Auto.

The article also also suggests that cars fitted with Enform 2.0 (Post 2014 Lexus vehicles) will be able to access Apple Car Play. Also, Enform 3.0 but this is only available currently on the LC.

Great news if true, especially the retrospectivity.

i read today BMW has or will have car play, $80 yearly. hmmmm

I wish they would just support screen mirroring and let you use whatever you want be it android or apple. I put in a cheap android head unit into my father's tundra and it does this.

I've said this for years... Android/Apple already have proven OS.. we are already using them and have been for some years now. MOST people are so familiar with them that switch back and forth isn't a problem. Yet car manufactures still come up with horrible infotainment systems... it just doesn't make sense to me. Mind you the Lexus one isn't bad, but I just don't understand why it's so hard to use technology that's already there and everyone is used to.

GPS is key for mirroring. No system other than perhaps Tesla's is going to be as good as Google maps/Waze out there. Plus not having to spend $$$ for updated navigation year to year then the eventual no more map updates.

I just bought a 2019 Nx today that was built before October. Will I be able to update it to have the Apple carplay!

I'm wondering the same thing... but with 18' models? I wouldn't think that there would not be a system update to enable car play. In fact if Lexus/Toyota did not release an update I think it would be an idiotic move on their part. My wife's 2nd service will be coming up in a few months. When we go to the dealer I am going to ask about an update and see what they tell us.

i was told yes by my sales guy. I also bought a 2019. According to him there will be an upgrade program.

i am in Canada though not sure if that changes anything
