Devalue the Car if not going to dealership?
Hi Everyone!
A quick question about anyone who do not go to dealership for services! If you go to 3rd party shop (who are trust worth to do service of course) Will it devalue the car when you trade in for a new car OR whoever is leasing the car? I am wondering if the dealership care if you don't do it at the Lexus service center. or give you a hard time if some problem occur.
Thanks for checking!

No. When I brought my RX330 for a trade in valuation, they only looked at the carfax, examine the condition of the car (exterior, interior, mileage, whether the car started/ran). They didn't even take it out for a drive, nor asked me about servicing records.

Some of the German brands will pretend to mark down the value if you do not have
all the requisite stamps in the book by Hans & Fritz in the back. aztr0 is on the right
track, condition and history reports are more meaningful to an appraiser. On the other
hand if you are trying to get a just over warrantee period car fixed and you had every
service done at their shop they will often accommodate you.
Never been there before? Not so much...

Thank you aztr0 and mcomer for reply!
I have been to dealership for my past services and as many people know the cost can be very high over time. I just found out a shop that suggest by a good friend and they do a great job for Toyota/Lexus cars. and I am thinking to give a try and can save a lot money. and was just worry if this will devalue the car in future if I want a new car soon haha.

Trade-in value is negotiable. It makes no difference for dealer what to use to pound on you to bring trade-in price down. Just use your common sense and on-line sources to determine your trade-in value and stand firm, to a point.
