Default 2016 Nx200t FWD in snow?

I am looking to see if anyone has used the FWD NX200t in snow or snowy or icy conditions(any weather typical from midwest to great lakes area)?
Daughter may be using it while away in college, and I'm concerned about safety.
How does it perform (is there any articles that discuss this)? Would the all-season tires be suffice? If not, what tires are you running?
The vehicle we have leased is a 2016 NX200T FWD, looking to see if I really need to trade it in for a more capable car, or if this will be enough for basic getting around in winter (3 months).
Also is there a traction control button or setting for snow in the non AWD version? if so, how do I activate it?

Thanks

Put winter tires on it and it'll be perfectly fine. It will stop and steer just as well as an AWD NX in the snow, it's just accelerating will be a little slower or if the snow is deep you might have some trouble getting going, but from a safety perspective you really lose next to nothing having FWD vs AWD.

I have Michelin Latitude Xice Xi2's on mine (it's AWD though) but there are lots of good options out there for winter tires. I grew up in a northern part of Canada, my first car was a base model 96 ford escort on $50/pc all season tires (aka cheap tires) and drove it through real winters, deep snow, on ice, storms, the works without ever having a serious problem. A brand new NX FWD will be leaps and bounds better so I'm sure you can also survive.

I agree with no1SomeGuy, the single best thing you can do for winter safety is put winter tires on the car. Most people in Chicago survive fine with fwd and all season tires. I have been driving my rwd 08 is350 for 8+ years on winter tires with 0 problems.

We've had a fair bit of snow here in Toronto this winter especially over the Christmas holidays. We were able to drive quite confidently even without snow tires in the snow.

We made a trip to Canada for the holidays. On the way home it started snowing. We still had one more stop to make in Toledo. It snowed for about 7 hours straight before we left. I’d say there was 4-5 inches or so on the expressway. The roads were completely covered. I was thoroughly impressed how well the FWD handled. We were able to drive about 45mph all the way home on the snow covered roads. I will say when we pulled off to get gas, I slid a bit on small hills, but I think that’s expected. I have the stock Yokohama Geolandars on it. It’s a 2017. The Michelin’s do fantastic in the snow though!

Everyone I know in Canada swears by snow tires over AWD.
