Default Disable DRL

Hi!

Does anyone know how you can disable the DRL? There is no fuse I can pull or a setting I can find on the on-board computer.

Yes, physically you can use the headlight switch and turn them off, rotate down. Or customize in the MENU > SETUP > VEHICLE > DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS.

But why?

I understand that some countries require DLRs. I'm wondering if the ability to temporarily disable the DLRs is not available on cars shipped to those countries like it is on US vehicles. But I also have to ask why. That is a big part of what I would call the signature look of the NX.

Well, one reason is so we don't "dazzle" the eyes of the security guards when approaching the gates of military installations at night where the signs read "Lights Off!"

Admittedly not a huge problem, but a courteous gesture to the men and women who often face difficult circumstances....

Yes, I turn mine off for the security guard at my building. I carpool with my wife most of the time and rarely drive on workdays so I wasn't thinking about that. Oddly enough, they removed the "please turn lights off"' sign but I suspect most of us still do. The question was "how to disable the DLRs," so it wasn't clear to me that this was just for temporary reasons.

Hmmm, as a former military person I had not thought about the gate guards. But, yes, you can turn off everything by turning the switch all the way down to the "DRL Off" position (at least on the US 2017 version).

My problem is I want the DRLs on during the day, but I DO NOT want Automatic Headlights coming on. In order to have the DRLs on, the headlight position must be in "Auto". Sorry.....I want to control when the headlights come on....not when I go under a bridge.

I am in Australia and I don't have the option to disable the DRL. It's not mandatory in Australia to have DRL but it is in the EU and we get the EU models here.
