gas mileage
went on a 200mile trip in mountains at 6000+ altitude. no cruise but speed was 80mph for most of journey. 750lbs of cargo. avg 23-24 mpg on 87 gas with drive mode in normal...not really impressed. my 06 is250awd w/v6 got 30mpg easy with same conditions on same trip.

You have to be kidding of course. You are driving at 80 mph with 750 lbs of cargo in the mountains on 87 octane and you think that, that's bad mileage. I don't believe it. What milleage did you expect to get. You can not expect the same mileage with an SUV that you get with a small sedan, sorry.

I dont know, my 1st ever crossover...I own a lifted 4x4 that get 12mpg hwy and a sports coupe that get high 20's....the crossover gets in middle...she gets about 20/21 city so I thought should get better/ lot better on highway.

Those are extreme conditions. I would guess that the MPG is calculated based on normal driving conditions. I'm getting around 23 mpg, just on daily commute to work, not much traffic,on sport mode occasionally, and premium gas always.

I don't think that sounds bad for the conditions you described. You are talking a fair bit of weight at a pretty high speed. And yes, really not a fair comparison to a sedan that is lighter weight with a smaller profile. If you were after higher mileage perhaps you needed to consider the hybrid? We filled up last week and calculated 33 MPG in city driving. Highway mileage will drop a couple of MPGs with a hybrid of course.

3 people, dog and few carry on bags. its not a complaint, just sharing my info. never used cruise control and it was up/down many hills. gonna go on another trip next month over flat land with same passengers so see if anything changes. wonder if a v6 non-turbo engine would perform better...this is lexus 1st turbo 4cyl....wonder why they went this route?

Be careful what you ask for. Our new RX350RX FSPORT has 6 cylinder. But 8 gears. Many CL RX members complaining about shifting gears too early as you accelerate.
Actually NX acclerates nicer than RX IMO.
Think I would like to see 6 cylinder turbo in theory.
Difficult to go from turbo to non turbo on daily or weekly basis.

I'll complain... I averaged 21 mpg over the winter months, mostly due to winter blend gas. Last few tanks I've noticed a bump to 24 mpg. Still nothing to be excited about. I wouldn't care so much if the 4 banger didn't need premium.

The current set at almost 1000 miles I average 24.7 mpg but those are achieved with 89 e10 gas ($.50 per gallon cheaper).
I am fine with these numbers. For 2 ranks I drove NICELY in Eco mode and I got 26.1 and 26.3, however, everytime my 16 years old drives it he always in sport mode and this kills my mpg.
