Potential new owner
I have a Gx that I use for off roading and I have really enjoyed the Lexus brand. I need a good commuter car for about a 90 mile each way (all interstate at 80 mph) commute (no traffic, I live in MT). The local Toyota dealer has a nice 2018 Nx300 F sport with 11,000…has had 5 owners on carfax and when I look up Vin on Lexus and it doesn’t show up. It looks like it was originally in Canada..should I run away? And also, any other advise on these? Really like the comfort and drive for such a small SUV. Thanks!

I would be suspicious with that many owners and so few miles. Something doesn't smell right to me.
Also, keep in mind that a CarFax will not tell you everything about the history of the vehicle. You can most probably rely on it for ownership and registration records, though.

Hard pass bro…the fact that there has been 5 owners on this 11K vehicle is a good indication to stay away.
Something is definitely not right with this NX especially owners bought it and sold it right away

Unless the car fax has accident and damage reports on it, why would 5 owners be of any suspicion?
Especially during these last 3 years, lots of changes in people’s commutes, working from home, the mileage and requirements for transportation have changed 180 degrees for many.
Used cars have really kept their values, so someone trading in after a year or selling due to changed circumstances happen, so why would 5 ownership changes be suspicious?
With just 11,000 on the obo, I think this has been sold and traded more than usual because it’s a low mileage gem.

My guess is that it was a loaner or used for engineering / marketing that was tossed around a couple times. If CarFax indicates the registered areas being in metro / Lexus dealer locations for the first couple, I bet that's what it was. Being more than say two or three tosses is definitely suspicious with the mileage and makes me think there could be an issue. I believe Canada has a Lemon Law comparable to the US but obviously legally different. I'd also be curious if they are willing to Lexus Certify it or heck any type of manufacturer warranty. Doubt it considering it's at a Toyota dlr. That too is a bit suspect. I'd stick to my gut and stay away.

5 owners with 11k miles no way that I would buy that car! There are so many cars available slightly used. My wife and I just just bought a 2021 NX 300 with 12,900 miles certified preowned yesterday for just under 40K pretty much loaded except for the F-Sport pkg. since you drive that much for work I would highly recommend a CPO car since you get 2 years and Unlimited mile warranty after the 4 year 50k warranty expires. This is our first NX 300 and we absolutely love it such an amazing smooth quiet riding suv with plenty of power.
