⛽ Methods of Opening Gas Cap Hatch? 🔑
I noticed a while back that my gas cap hatch door was open—not all the way open, but simply not latched. I wonder how it got that way since I'm very meticulous about closing it after filling.
Well, today, I got out of my car in my garage at home and when walking past the gas hatch door, it popped open! I didn't do anything (or did I?)
What are the various ways that this hatch could open? ...
1) While the vehicles doors are unlocked, press the hatch in and it pops open
2) ??

I think you forgot about that motion sense mod you made to the goose...
I had a similar experience with my NX early on. After filling with gas, I lightly tapped the gas cap hatch to swing it toward the car and put the nozzle away, I then turned back and absent mindedly pushed the gas cap hatch to "close" it. Well, it seems it can already close all the way with it's own force, and that second push actually popped it back open. I then got back in my car and drove off.

It could be that the latch is out of adjustment and barely latches when you shut it. A vibration, as in shutting the drivers door, can cause it to pop back open sometimes

To avoid touching the surface of the gas fuel door, I push/reset the latch in 3IS first and then a light swing of the gas hatch door to complete the operation
. But for NX, it is more difficult to do it as the swing of the gas hatch door needs to be extremely light.
