It will be interesting to see just how reverse-compatible this is.

Explain to me why this is better than the Enform Apps we already have. I used Fuel prices and yelp today and both worked great. I don't see them on the video. Besides I don't do Apple.

The only thing I'd care about video-wise is Waze, which CarPlay won't do, even on Android platforms. Everything else (audio) I can stream via USB and/or Bluetooth.

When they say "plug-and-play" what does that actually mean?

After watching the video I believe it means "requires disassembly of the dash so that you can plug everything in, then it will play".

This is a great first try but it's a little inelegant for my taste.

I'll wait for true Toyota/Lexus OEM product that would have better integration.

you'll wait forever.
Toyota/Lexus is not going to add Carplay or Android Auto support to these :"older" stereos.
In fact they state they are not going to add Carplay/AndroidAuto to their future vehicles as well.

means everything will have a harness adapter to plug in without any wires cutting or splicing to do.
easily reversible. yeah the dash assembly with stereo will have to be disassembled for you to "plug and play"

That's true but I've read that Toyota/Lexus is developing their own system by Telenav to offer instead of Car play or Android auto.

yeah good luck wishing lexus will update software on the older model cars with this new system.
most likely it will only reach future release cars only.

I for one am looking forward to it. I don't care for the NAV system in my NX, I much prefer my apple phone. I think I could change my mind if they made it easier to add an address from my phone.

I think you can do that already? I haven't tried it but I assume the Enform app allows you to send the destination you typed in your phone to the car?
