Summer tires?
I have a 2015 nx200t f sport fwd with "summer tires". I've never had a car with tires explicitly described as "summer" so I'm wondering how they handle light snow? Any experiences? Is that just a label or does it mean summer only? Should I get snow tires? My former car was a 2008 Acura TL that had all season tires and I thought it handled the snow just fine, so I don't expect perfect traction, but I don't want to be stranded, either.

Summer tires provide exceptional traction in dry and wet conditions. However once temps drop below about 45° the rubber compound hardens and traction drops off. I would suggest being very careful with summer tires in cold weather. Probably best to get a set of winter tires

My other car is a Miata with summer performance tires. I've only been caught once in snow with it, when it started to snow unexpectantly while at work. It was not safe but I did make it home with out hitting anything. After that, if there was any possibility of snow I took the truck with all season tires. There are numerous people that drive Miatas all winter in the snow but they equip the car with 4 winter tires prior to the arrival of snow. Our Lexus is AWD but I would not attempt it in the snow with summer tires.
