Motive tools makes a funnel that screws into the oil filler cap, I highly recommended it.
https://www.motivxtools.com/collecti...-oil-fill-caps I also have the Ez 103RH oil drain valve ,it works great , I connect a clear vinyl hose hose to the end to avoid any splashes CTA tools makes a solid steel oil filter wrench and if I had not gotten the aluminum one already this would be my choice!

Ah....EXCELLENT suggestion! Thank you. I'll try that next time.

Grahaminat 07-08-19 09:43 AM

Yes, I saw the MotivX funnel that screws onto the oil hole. I also saw where it was Sold Out. Ha ha! I guess I'm not the only one with this problem.

Any clue as to whether this fits a 2017 NX200t? I checked on the website but only saw where it DIDN'T fit a Prius or Toyotas with a "half-turn" oil cap (whatever that is).

Thanks!

It’s threaded they carry it on Amazon $15 prime.Motivx Tools Engine Oil Funnel for Toyota, Lexus, and Scion Vehicles with Threaded Oil Filler Caps - Fits Most Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Tacoma, Highlander, Sienna, Tundra, RX350 and Many More

SWEET! Thank you brook41. Ordering now!

Grahaminat 07-08-19 12:55 PM

Actually, according to Amazon, "This does not fit your: 2017 Lexus NX200t" I wrote Motivx Tools support support@motivxtools.com and asked if they have a version that will fit.

Thanks!

brook41 07-08-19 01:17 PM

There should be no difference in oil caps........ https://www.mylparts.com/oem-parts/l...ItMGwtbDQtZ2Fz

I contacted support at MotivX Tools. They were VERY helpful, stating, "Unfortunately the Amazon vehicle fitment information isn't very good, that is the correct funnel for your NX200t." Link to support here;
support@motivxtools.com

I ordered directly from MotivX Tools directly. Unlike Amazon, these guys offer TRUE free shipping. I don't have to "add to my cart" to get free shipping or pay $99 for Prime to get "free shipping".

The link to MotivX Tools is here;

The funnel arrived in 3 days and is a PERFECT fit. I couldn't be happier!

Thanks everybody - especially MotivX Tools!

Thanks for the DIY write up OP.

Just as an FYI since it’s kind of related.
Added a Fumoto oil drain valve (model# F-103) to make it easier for the next change. However not liking how the valve angles in a way that it protrudes down below the oil pan. I’ve tried re-screwing it in but still rests in this position. Hopefully it won’t get damaged or caught in any road debris.

^ You'll be fine. Notice how the down pipe is at that level too. I believe the down pipe is actually the lowest part. I've had a fumoto valve on my STi for over 13 years. The car is lowered and maybe 3.5" of ground clearance. It's never been a problem ever. If it worries you too much you could always buy another and see if it threads in a different place.

I just changed my wife's NX's oil now and added the fumoto valve. Here is how ours sits. I turned it maybe an 1/8 more just so that the body would face straight up. In all the years using these this is the very first time that's EVER happened. 90% of the time it's sideways or exactly what your picture shows... Again zero issues ever.

That is a peace of mind knowing that there won’t be any issues from your experience thank you.
I had a lowered Jetta in the past and it would scrape my oil pan if I wasn’t careful that’s why I was kinda worried. I may add another washer next oil change just so it protrudes less.
Great add on piece to make the DIY oil change a little simpler for sure.

I wouldn’t use it with it exposed like it shows on your pictures. I’ve had one open in the past due to the vehicle hitting a large piece of rubber from a tire. I still use Fomoto valves but only if there a suitable skid plate to protect the valve.

nigel821 08-09-19 05:38 AM

I will add that if you aren't comfortable with the valve like that there is another option.

I have this on our Mercedes. It was impossibly to put a fumoto valve on it due to the oil pan lip which interfered with the valve body itself.

This is also a nice solution. Stahlbus drain valve. (**NOTE** the drop down menu for options on bolt/thread size. Below link is for Mercedes thread, NOT lexus)

Build quality is excellent just like the Fumoto. Has a cap that protects the insides. Once you unscrew the cap you use the supplied adapter with hose. Push and turn to move the ball valve out and the oil drains. I would say this might be nicer due to the fact it's less of a profile as the fumoto and they also include a piece of nice quality flexible tubing so there really is no mess. Plus they have different options for the cap (lanyard, safety cap), which is awesome if you have one for a track bike or car and you have to safety wire it, they make a cap pre drilled specific for a safety wire/pin. Price wise the Stahlbus is more expensive by a few bucks...

Food for thought though and another options. Again, I think you are fine, just make sure you use the safety clip on the fumoto but if not the Stahlbus is a great choice with zero chance of it hanging down past the pan.

Drain Plug Gasket?

I'm planning on doing my first NX200t oil change and was curious if the oil drain plug has either a gasket or crush washer? I looked up the OEM filter and it includes two O-rings for the filter housing, but didn't see any drain plug washer included. Does the NX not have a washer or do you have to buy it separate from the filter?

Lexuswiz 04-28-20 02:46 PM

It does, fiber/paper washer, sold separate from the filter. I order generic 100 packs off ebay as Toyota charges an absurd 20 cents for 1 at my local dealer when a generic 100 pack is $10-15.
