Hi Everyone,

I've recently taken my NX 300h onto road and enjoying it ...
short of realizing that Lexus does not have any good tech in their cars,
ie. what is navigation without traffic updates?

But that aside, curious if anyone has had unexplained paint chips ...
i found one at the rear hatch of the NX, next to the logo ...
no dent, nothing to explain how or why ...

Looking to see if there are any problem with the paint in the NX 2015?

Let me know if you have had any issues with paint?

that is crazy ... the rear hatch doesn't get stone chips or anything ... and it just flaked off ...

does anyone know if this is a warrantee issue? will they repaint, ? it's a brand new NX

That should be covered under warranty.

Your rear hatch getting chips is completely possible. Your front end gets rock chips because people in front of you kick rocks up, same happens when people drive going the other way as you and they kick rocks back up at your car. The chips are usually less severe because you are driving away and the rock has time to slow down before hitting you, but I certainly can happen.

Overall, the paint on both the IS and NX are crap. I am happy that I clear bra'd the front of the IS and the front and hood of the NX.

Now, if it "flaked" off, that is another story. I wouldn't let them repaint it, I would demand a whole new hatch. They will cry that the shade may be different, but you can tell them you will be the judge of how close it is.

i found a chip on my rear lift gate at delivery. the dealer covered the paint repair for me. so far i haven't had any other chip issues with the paint. I did have my entire hood and front bumper covered with paint protection film however. learned my lesson from the bumper cover on my IS.

I too had a chip near the rear hatch. The dealer took the car back for a week for paintwork, and loaned me an IS and ES consecutively during that time...

I have 1 minor scratch on the side of the front bumper on the passenger side. It may be the fender actually. I think it came from a shrub branch that was overgrown into one of the roads near my work where they have no shoulders.

I am actually getting XPEL for the front bumper and Opticoat for the entire vehicle this week to help in preventing issues.

I hear you. It is incredible to see Lexus Canada still doesn't make traffic update work for any new Canadian Lexus models where Acura and some other luxury brands already did that for at least a couple of years and they have already refined the system. Also forget about sending destination from maps from smartphone to the car.

For the paint chip, it is possible to get it on the rear hatch. I am surprised they didn't correct that in NX. If you look at the current RX, there have been some owners who have experienced about the weak paint on the rear hatch where they will get rust spots in the area. I would think they just need to have a thicker clear coat in those areas.
