Default Body side moldings are virtually useless in protecting your car against dings.

I didn't want them but I got them on my NX cause of a stupid dealer add on package. Not only do they distract from the look of the car, they don't even do what they were put on to do. I've come back to my car many times with dings on they door and the body side moldings looking just fine and dandy. it's a bit frustrating.

I agree on the uselessness of them.

If you want to remove them. You can very carefully. They are just connected with adhesive.

Just heat them, apply an adhesive remover like goo gone and have a lot of patience.

Sorry to hear. Can you post pics on the ineffectiveness of the moldings and dings they did not absorb?

PS. If you really dislike them, consider having the dealer remove them or DIY with dental floss and Goo Gone.

Yes, please post photos if you can. I'm thinking about the, for my future NX. Looking at my IS, there are just too many dings to count.

If you have the right products to support the removal, you won't have any issues

As for those guys, it looks like the blind leading the blind. "I got it on my tail light and it left bubbles". What in the world was he doing? I've had it drip into lights before and there was nothing left.

My body side moldings just paid for themselves:

^^^ Glad to hear. In essence, it's less painful to touch up a small scratch than repair a metal door ding.

Indeed. A metal door ding I'd have to pay someone to fix. If I do a crappy touch-up job on the molding I can always replace it, likely for less than the cost of the metal repair!

I saw an NX with body side moldings today and it looked awful... does every dealer place them differently? These were squat in the middle of the doors.

the instructions for installation are specific in regards to measurements for where to place them

Mine were dealer-installed, as pictured elsewhere, just like others' pics. Sorry if you hate them, but they just saved me a bunch of money, which was the point.
