Just got the NX yesterday from JM Lexus here in FL.
They have a lot in their lot compared to their online inventory.

I was gonna get the USB with Blk but when I saw the OB with RR interior it was done deal!
So I got the F-Sport in Black with Red interior very nice combo.

When I was leaving the lot I saw one NX non Fsport with running boards and it looks good but all their Fsport in the lot does not have it so I let it go.
Now its growing on me. Just want to know u guys opinions??

Anyone with F-Sports with Running boards chime in!
BTW Sewell has them for $640 and they have PDF how to install.

Hmm, never thought about it to be honest. I didn't think the NX was high enough to warrant them, but nice to know they are offered. Yet another part that Lexus leaves off the build list

If you like the looks and have the spare cash, get it.

Only reason I want it is if I add cross bars to the top. The running boards will come in handy to secure whatever I put up there.

Haven't seen a "real-life" NX with the running boards. If anyone has seen it, post a pic!

Do the nx running boards go out far enough to protect against dings, etc? I don't personally care for the body side moldings. Also, what is the cost of the running boards?

I too am interested in what running boards would cost. original or aftermarket. Is there such a thing as oem lexus on these?

I don't know what you mean by dings? They are much to low to protect you from doors I would think.

if you're worried about car doors, then it most likely won't help in 99% of the cases as car doors are curved. If the running boards extend out more than the NX door, there's no way it's far enough to be more than the curve in car doors.

I wish I had taken a few more detailed pictures... I took these 2 pictures last month.

It does not appear they extend too far out.

Note they are also extremely low to the ground.
I'm not sure they would protect the doors very well, being so low to the ground.

I agree with swacer. They don't protrude enough outward to prevent an adjacent vehicle's door from a ding. If you look carefully, the protrusion is even less than the mud flap which is approximately flush with the widest part of the door/fender. Also echoing Kelmin, the adjacent door may simply clear the running board.

Then factor in that most car doors curve and protrude outward midway from the bottom to the top, clearing the running board and hitting your door.

Planning to get the NX soon, and I was wondering if any Lexus Owners got running boards? If so would you mind posting some pictures? Lastly, how much was the running boards I know that prices may vary from dealerships. I just want to get an ideas of how much it will cost for running boards. Thanks

I had the dealer install running boards, it's in the recent photos I posted in the Pics Of Your NX Now thread, but here they are as well:













They don't really extend past the doors in the center much at all, you don't get a lot of surface to stand on until you open the doors.

Cost me nothing, but then again, I paid MSRP. I had the dealer throw in the running boards, body side molding, mud guards, and bumper protector. Took over a day for them to install it all as the running boards seem to be a little complicated to install.

The car is low enough that you don't really need them to get in and out. I mainly got it for the future when I might get roof cross bars. I found the running boards on my RAV4 helpful when throwing things on the roof and tying things down.
