Ya, I usually throw my bike in the back as well, but when I'm doing grinders or MTB, I rather not have my dirty bike in my cabin--even tho I have all weather liners. The bike rails will fit on top of the basket too. When I go camping and am carrying passengers, we would keep the dirty equipment on top or out back in a trailer basket. It frees up some space for us to sit without trying to cram everything in the trunk..

But yes, when I'm by myself daily driving, its is for aesthetics . Increased wind noise and lower mpg? I rather not...

Has anyone tried to do the opposite and remove the roof rails? Anyone know if there are any kits to cover the holes?

Did this to my old rav4 since I never use the roof rack and it cleans up the top of the vehicle and makes it easier to brush snow off as well.

Tried to get my salesman to throw in a major discount for Lexus Cross Bars with my CPO NX200t AWD purchase Wednesday. I had already gotten a good discount on an extra key, so he couldn't do it. Then I saw these on eBay for $115 in black and ordered them. Got here today and they are nice to be a straight from China product, and an easy install.

I'll try them out for wind noise this afternoon. Wind noise test passed! Just the faintest noise heard at 70mph, but with music playing it couldn't be heard.

Update: I tested today with sunroof open and pretty noisy, so moved them back so front is just behind the sunroof. Much better! No wind noise with sunroof open. I'll try to update photos tomorrow.

no it came black. I bought a bottle of Lexus touchup paint and I painted it it myself.

Does Yakima have a crossbar that will fit the NX? I tried their vehicle fitter but it said they don't have anything that'll fit. It seems like my best options are Thule or OEM.

I ran into the same problem with the Yakima configurator... Inno Racks is another option you can look at.

Thanks for the tip. I think I'll wait for the next REI 20% off coupon to snag the Thule crossbars.
