Rear Bumper Protector
What do you guys think about the rear bumper protector? I have a Eminent White NX on order and I have the bumper protector on my 14 RX. I'm not sure it has really protected the bumper. I don't see any scratches on it (yet). The top of the NX bumper, the "ledge", seems narrower on the NX versus the RX.
I guess all it takes is one scratch and I'd be kicking myself for not getting it. I'm not really crazy about another piece of black trim on a white car. It would have looked better on Atomic Silver (my choice) than the white (her choice)>

It came with mine, but I'd get it just for the look as it adds an upscale look. It's chrome/black.

We ended up finding a car without the bumper cover. I don't really like the looks of it, it's adding extra plastic to the bumper and looks after-market and cheap (and easy way for the dealer to add a $5-10 part and charge you $100 for it). Although I do think CorradoMR2's bumper protector turned out ok.
I think a clear bra on the bumper would protect quite well, and look better. I've always had a tint guy add clear bra to that part to protect it and it works well.

Thanks for the input. I didn't realize the protectors were black and chrome. The one on my RX is all black. I like the idea to add some clear film also. Decisions, decisions.
I like a lot of the small details I'm noticing on the NX versus my RX. For example, the bottom interior floor trim piece is brushed stainless and black plastic and it's all black plastic on the RX. The rear seat diffuser in the NX is trimmed in chrome/silver and the RX is just all black plastic. Small items but they dress up the interior.
I am going to add the mud flaps/splash guards after seeing them in the photos above of the white NX. As someone stated earlier, they fill in the gap between the rubber wheel arch and the lower trim. Hopefully they'll be somewhat functional as well.

^^^ Just double-check with Lexus USA to ensure the bumper protector in Canada matches that for the US. Sometimes, small detail differences can exist between the two.
Clear film as per nx200tmb is also a good (less expensive) idea if the chrome/black look doesn't suit your taste. It's even an easy DIY...

Chrome strips? The NX's I saw at my dealer only had all black protectors. Another US/Canada difference? Won't those chrome strips get all scratched up?
Also, no mud flaps.
Here's the NX I test drove,
A red one on the lot,

You need to order the Preferred Pkg. for $389.00 includes cargo net, cargo mat, key glove, wheel locks & rear bumper protector

While its not the "best" looking, I think its certainly needed. I can't tell you how many times something has brushed the paint on my current DD when I'm trying to put something into the hatch. It doesn't matter HOW careful you're being, it just happens.

Here's the rear bumper protector listed on the Lexus web site as an option, $125. There was no chrome strip version listed.

Rear Bumper Protector Alternative
Yesterday I put a clear film protector in the same place on our white 300h. I'd include a picture but since you can't see it it's kind of moot. I like that you can't see it and that I was able to take it over the back corner and down to above the parking sensors. It gets used as a work car and sees a lot of suitcase traffic and in less than two weeks had a scuff that fortunately polished off. For twenty bucks its a good investment. Well, forty bucks in my case as I screwed up the first one so there was twenty bucks tuition for that class.
I've included a link at the end of the prargraph to what I used. If that's not cool with the mods they can remove it, no blood no foul. It comes in a four inch wide piece that I trimmed down to around three inches, cut to length (I stopped around the beginning of the flare - you'll know what that means if you look) and added a 1" radius to the lower corners. Do these just stick on with 3m double sided tape? I'm half tempted to get this as I just experienced pulling suit cases out of the rear hatch definitely make contact with the rear bumper if one does not LIFT them up. If you just roll it out you will get scratches everywhere.

Saw that link and almost purchased it last night from them. I just purchased it from Kendall in FL. They are selling it for $78. I live in VA, and shipping was only $3. So I figured why not. Comes in a little cheaper than the ebay one and I'm not in a rush to get it so if it takes a week or two that's fine.

Since our NX is caviar color I think this will blend in much better than if it was a lighter color car. I normally hate black cars with a passion just due to detailing and things like that but I'm liking this darker color for accessories like these and the mud flaps. They don't stick out at all which is nice.

If you are installing yourself, a word of warning: Instructions say to line the center of the X to the hatch latch:
DO NOT DO IT!!! It will be OFF CENTER with the bumper! Below is a pic of my bumper protector, the X is slightly off to the left. This will give proper alignment to the edges of the bumper.
I was able to remove the protector because the double sided tape had not adhered fully, and readjusted. PHEW!
