Really good to see that the NX has a much better small frontal overlap crash test rating than the RAV 4 2014 model (which was rated poor for small frontal overlap).

The 2015 Rav4 was apparently rated "good" just like the NX. They made improvements to the structure to prevent the intrusion near the left foot.

Basically it comes down to design cycle. All the Toyotas that did poorly on the small overlap are getting countermeasured: Camry in fall of 2014, Prius and Rav4 for 2015 model years. Pretty much everything introduced in model year 2014 or later for Toyota has done acceptable or good on the small overlap. The NX does get top safety pick + if you option the pre-collision system.
