Default European NX commercial with Will.i.Am is out

Just posted this over on the blog.

Lexus has been hitting it out of the park with its ads lately, and this is no exception. I love how it plays up the angular nature of the sheet metal.

What do you think?

I personally don't like this add. It's using a famous guy only to express that if he likes it then it must be a super-cool car. What if I don't recognize the guy? Maybe I do one or two songs, but it doesn't thrill me seeing him in the add.

And then they only focus in the design of the car. Even worse, only in the striking angles of the car. The car is lovely, but is talking about design the only message they are going to give to typical Q5, X3 buyers?

Maybe I'm missing something...

the government pays me to be extremely detail oriented in my line of work. but god help me, for whatever reason, i don't see what the difference is between a normal f sport NX vs the will.i.am. edition.. someone enlighten me!

I think the ad shows the demographic Lexus is going after with the NX, and that may not be the typical Q5, X3, GLK buyer.

ok, if that's the case then that makes more sense. i thought the entire point of the promotional video was to broadcast his special NX model. who the hell knew it was the show his smug horny face when he saw the car drive by.

The NX looks great, but like any other small suv's I rented and drove, not interested because I know its small, tight and cramped.

It's good you realize this before plunking down your money on one. They are called compact (luxury) CUV's for a reason.

I'm 6'2" and over 200lbs. I didn't find it cramped at all.

It's being aimed at a younger urban audience too, so it doesn't have to hold half the soccer team either. And with the seats folded, I could easily throw my bike in there without taking it apart.

I'd drive one before you dismiss it—you might be surprised!
