See that Chevy is advertising in new model cars as only ones that will have WIFI in car. Understand that some Lexus models in the United Kingdom have it. What about the North America market????

Unfortunately no mention of it in anywhere for either US or Canada.

I wonder if wifi will be like blue tooth was in the mid 2000s. My current 2005 vehicle (non-luxury vehicle) didn't come with bluetooth or even satellite radio. I upgraded the radio but never got the blue tooth and still use an ear piece. Bluetooth is standard for just about every vehicle now.

Do I really need wifi in my car, at this time the answer is no but it would be nice. In 8-10 years I wonder what my answer will be.

The Chevy onStar wifi is a hotspot connected to a cellular 4G LTE, I believe AT&T. There's a free period of a few months, then you have to pay for a data plan. I don't see why anyone would buy this option and then pay a monthly fee to continue using it. You can get essentially the same functionality from tethering your existing smartphone if you really need to connect a laptop or wifi only tablet in the car.

It's a fine idea, I just think it's not a useful option yet.

yep... i think this is for markets where it is much cheaper to buy internet sim card than add same amount of GB to your cell phone plan.

Otherwise it seems ok for Taxi and Limo services i guess... although I am sure there was some 3rd party accessory for this already.

Audi offers Wi Fi in their 2013+ vehicles through T Mobile in the U.S.. It's 3g service, but the new A3 offers 4g.
