Default Car Alarm Malfunction

hey team, every 20 mins my car alarm is going off almost to the second.
car is less than a week old
I took the battery out of the remote and waited (I only have the one for now)
I checked the battery connections under the hood
I drove it around a bit and then parked it
I checked all the doors, back hatch and moon roof
popped the fuse covers off under the hood and made sure they were all seated correctly

it just keeps happening...maintenance is backed up till March here where I live but I can't keep hitting a button every 20 mins my neighbors will shoot me.
has anyone seen\heard about this or have any suggestions?
I'm to the point of driving this back to dealer, throwing my keys at the salesman and saying "call me when it's fixed"
only change is the weather, it's cold and rainy which is the first time this car has experienced that. rain yes, cold, yes, rain AND 32 deg weather...no.

Thanks in Advance

You should just go to the dealership and have it looked at. Mine did set off one time, but that was because I didn't close the door properly and it popped open a bit after. The doors do need a bit more of a push to close...

Right. Don't make an appointment. This is an emergency repair. Just go to the dealership and don't leave until they 1. Write up a service order. 2. Work on the car. 3. Fix it.

got it, thanks for the advice.
for now it appears pushing in the fuses under the hood has resolved the issue. there were a couple of them that seemed like they weren't all the way in.
my guess is it was missed on check in, or it happened during shipping...but it still doesn't sit well with me that a NEW car would have this happen.

I'll be heading up to the dealership to get some answers.

Unless it’s a side of the road emergency

You should never start taking apart a brand new vehicle. Once you have a problem. Your first opportunity you take it back. Tell them what’s wrong and walk out with a loaner. That’s what you paid for with a Lexus.

By disconnecting the battery and fuses you may have lost information that they could pull with the computers.

@GXWes - I may not be the sharpest crayon in the drawer but I know enough not to start yanking on cables and messing with things I don't understand. so just to be clear I didn't disconnect anything - I just pushed in some fuses, lol

talked with the service manager over at the dealership and he said that a loose fuse wouldn't set off the alarm, however a loose hood latch would. it's possible the hood sensor is bad or with all the wind\rain the hood got out of place (or something)
when I opened and closed the hood that set everything back and allegedly fixed the issue.
regardless I left it with them to check out and I have a loaner in my possession for now.

I'm 99.5% sure they aren't gonna find anything, but they've given me their word they will try their best to find it. I plan to hold them to that.

My understanding is,, as part of the delivery, they will be installing some of the fuses to the vehicle. It is likely the dealership didn't put them in properly.

and hopefully if that's the case they will cop to it. (prolly wont happen but you never know)

either way I'm happy to have this documented and noted when\if they don't find anything and it happens again.

**Update**
after a few days at the dealer (They've had it longer than me at this point)
they discovered the battery had a bad cell, it was failing a load test. So they are replacing it and I should get it back today.

hopefully this helps folks in the future.

Does your vehicle have the illuminated trunk sill?

@Al575 must know something...I got call from the dealer today. They replaced the battery but the alarm was still going off, they even got it to go off on it's own several times.
they called around and got clued into a defect in the illuminated trunk sill where it stays on even thought the car is off. Which is what's setting of the alarm b/c the car things the door is open or trying to be opened.

they have ordered a part they needed and will hopefully get it back to me soon.
more to come..for those that care

So I finally got my car back last week (right before I was out of town for a few days) but they replaced the trunk sills and the overhead light in the trunk which was malfunctioning as well. The dealer said there was a bad diode in the Sill that was still attempting to pull power even though the car was off and locked. that attempt to pull power is what was triggering the alarm. The part(s) were replaced, I've had the car now for a few days and so far so good. I even called Lexus customer care and got them to add another month to my free trials that came with the car.

hopefully this helps someone out in the future.
