Default For those with Bluetooth echo....

For those that I've read about who have had issues with callers hearing themselves echo when your phone is connected via Bluetooth on your NX. Has anyone found a fix?

Going to check today to see if I have this problem, calling someone. Assume the issue is on the other end, the echo.

That's what our problem is. When the wife calls me from her car when I talk back everything I say is echoed back to me.

I've probably said this in another thread but last week the dealer tried to fix this echo problem. The tech said he "called Chicago" and they said it was a known problem and that they hoped to have an OTA update "soon" to fix it. Meanwhile, this is what seems to be the interim answer.

It's 2024 now, still not fixed on our car. UGH!

BT echo is typically caused by a processing delay somewhere. These can come from anywhere. When the system thinks its sent audio to the speakers it will filter same when it gets picked up by microphone. But if the audio takes too long to get to the speakers, its treated like an independent speaker within the car and not filtered. Some ideas to fix:
  • Make sure car has latest firmware, this will especially be the case for a '22 NX which had the early versions known to be a tad buggy.
  • Make sure iPhone has a recent update, there may be iOS tweaks for BT.
  • Delete the existing BT connection from both the car and the phone, and initiate a new ACP connection. Not sure how ACP does it, but with AA I would initiate an AA connection first, and then it sets up the BT connection automatically and this usually works perfectly.
  • Factory reset the phone (I know, painful, but I've seen this help on occasion for various issues)
  • Try a different phone for reference purposes to confirm issue is with car, not phone. My wife's phone had issue with NX, got her a new phone, problem solved.
Several different versions of BT, and so many, many implementations of BT out there, sometimes two particular devices with their particular software and hardware revisions just don't like each other. If resetting everything doesn't help, replacing one or the other often does.
