Default PPF and ceramic coating

Just wanted to see what most ppl have done for these. Please let me know if you got a PPF and whether for the car front or whole thing, or whether you got a ceramic coating and how many layers and which one, or if you did the PPF and ceramic coating. Also, what did it cost you?

Seriously thinking about front PPF and then two layer ceramic coating but the wife won't like a 3k price tag.

My NX came with it from the dealer. Whole front end, mirrors quarters etc and the stupid cup things on the handles..took them off......$1400 cost Canadian. Xpel Ultimate.

If it didn't have it I would not get it...that's just me. I like to detail my vehicles and with this stuff I can't.

Great for folks that drive a lot...I don't, and rarely hit the highways.

As for Ceramic, same reason, like to polish regularly....got nothing else to do!

save your money on the ceramic coating. Doesn't last. I've been using a spray on ceramic detailer that works great. Easy on, easy off. Check out torquedetail.com.

I have a co-worker that got a new RX a few years ago and was bragging about how he got this super expensive ceramic coating and how it was going to make his car invulnerable to almost everything. Fast forward a couple years of running it through a brush-based car wash (one of those membership places so probably every few days) and it's scratched to hell. I don't know if he's had it recoated like I think you're supposed to do regularly or not.

I'll be self-applying a ceramic coating. Was looking into PPF, but after looking into it, cars with lighter colors (ours is Ultra White) seem to show the edges/creases pretty quickly and I'm just not too excited about having to replace it every couple of years to keep it looking "good".

I'm not aware of any "super expensive ceramic coating" that allows you to go through a brush based car wash without voiding your warranty/causing serious paint/finish damage.

All the ones I've seen say doing this voids the warranty on the Ceramic coating.

That said, there are some very nice do it yourself Ceramic coatings like Turtle Wax's Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating (~$20 a bottle) that on a good clean paint finish, gives an excellent level of protection for a daily driver, for almost no effort.

Anyone who uses a brush based/operated car wash will find their paint pretty much scratched to he!! very quickly.

Anyone try PPF the piano surface inside the car? Knowing myself, I know it will be all damaged by my purse eventually.

Is it hard to DIY (I'm not very handy or should I save money to have professional PPF inside and outside of the car?

He was sold pretty hard by the business manager or whomever it was that sells the extra crap when you do the paperwork. He thought it made the car invincible. I knew better but didn't bust his bubble.

I've had PPF applied to white cars, black cars, silver cars and other colour ways and there are no creases. If it's applied properly you can't even tell that it is there.

FWIW - I had XPEL applied to the entire front of the car (including the headlights), A-pillars, rocker panels, door cups, rear bumper and the interior tablet. I typically get this done at a shop, but had the dealership do the install this time around as they were competitive on price. I don't bother with ceramic coating, but I also wax my car.

No gimmicky ceramic for me, just some good old 3M PPF on the "front" facing surfaces. Hood, mirrors, front corners, door edges, and inside the door handles. Here in Colorado we have A LOT of stone chips, so it does make a difference. I don't like the seam that it creates, but chips look worse.

The hood of my (lifted) truck is horrible with probably 100+ paint chips. It is unsalvageable at this point. Wish I had done PPF on that hood

PPF Paid off yesterday.
Last night truck dumped some gravel in front of my wife on the highway. Probably 20 visible impacts. PPF ate most of it up. I think 2 might have made it through to the paint. 1 tiny ding on the windshield.
In this case the XPEL PPF probably won't heal in all those spots. Most of it is in the front section. Debating on whether to live with it, or get just that one piece replaced.
Either way, much better outcome than without it.

It might! Try leaving your NX out in the sun.

Yea will be trying.
Had PPF on my RC. There were a few rock strikes that didn't repair on their own. Overall I thought it was still worth it compared to without.
I may look to see if there are things we can do to help it heal.

PPF on entire hood, front bumper and headlights.

Using TW hybrid solutions ceramic spray on the rest . Works great.
