I wonder possibly if there's some 'bleed through' happening that is related to the recent cyber attacks in USA and Canada for the dealerships computer systems that handle vehicle purchases and repair work orders. They must at some level 'handshake' or share info in some way. Maybe Lexus is working feverishly in the background to prevent further reaching cyber attacks that could be easily directed towards our connected cars. I don't even want to imagine what could happen if some nefarious criminals managed to get access to our cars through remote app.

My understanding is that CDK provides software/services to dealers, not to manufacturers, to manage their retail operations. I was just looking at their website just to see the extent of their operations and nothing seems to be tied in with supporting manufacturer's systems or those services provided by manufacturers to connected cars. Although I think CDK will need to update their website, considering how much marketing info they have bragging how they help dealers by shielding them from cyber attacks. This is right from their web site "What happens when your system is hacked, or your cell phone, Wi-Fi or internet connections stop working completely? Without preparation, it could be devastating." It seems they don't drink their own Koolaid.

I was doing similar research on CDK myself and came across this article: https://driving.ca/auto-news/industr...-ransom-canada

Had to laugh, their Canadian owned! "While CDK Global is headquartered in the U.S., it belongs to a Canadian private equity firm, Brookfield Business Partners. Based in Toronto, Brookfield bought CDK for some $8.3 billion in 2022."

Glad I still like to keep my records the old fashion way and ask for a paper copy of all my service records!

So that's why their stock nose dived.

Oh, a recent update on the web:

Got this notification from the Lexus app. Looks like there are indeed issues, at least in Canada.

My app just started communicating again just a few minutes ago, but it hasn't updated any vehicle location or trip stats yet. I'll be trying the software update feature again a bit later today, see if it can download it now. Probably a bit of backlog will keep things slow for a bit (provided it doesn't blow up again).
