my NX has been no different than previous lexus. I'm using the aftermarket winters and aftermarket tpms from a 2019 RX on my new NX..didn't even have to reprogram the tpms, just registered it as set 2 in infotainment, drove around and that's it.
maybe it's the shops people are going to who have no experience with toyota/lexus?
You've given me some hope, although I've always had good luck at Americas Tire. Maybe I'll check in with another shop. Thanks!
That wasn't my experience with the prior generation NX. Each time I made the switch the techs at Americas Tire used a scan tool pointed at each TPMS to reset. An easy process that didn't require digging into the settings screen and driving until reset. Having non OEM sensors wasn't as big an issue.
So what they were doing was scanning the codes for the sensors in the wheels. They would then have to go into the car via the ODB port and program those sensors into the cars computer. This tool does that second step. It stores both sets of codes you load into it via a computer and with the push of the button, the car is programmed.

What year is your new NX? They have changed the wheel nuts to bolts, at least on the 2023's. I was intending on using the 20" wheels that I had from my 2020 RX on the new NX, but because the hardware has changed, I had to get new wheels.

Thanks for the follow up. I know they tried that process with the TPMS that used to work with our 1st gen NX but it didn't work. I wonder if the scan tools they used wasn't current to the 2022 model? (I did this in early November).

2022 NX350h. I had aftermarket wheels for my 2019 RX already and I just had to get new set of lugbolts for the new nx
On the RX, the shop just cloned the TPMS on the aftermarket/winter set to the oems and for the NX, I just had shop install the wheels without doing anything to the TPMS or program the car. I just went into infotainment and registered it as set 2
I’m new to Lexus as I’ve driven Acura SUVs for a number of years and they require nothing at all when switching summer/winter tires/TPMS. Just drive and that’s it.
Do I understand that the procedure in the attached document from @lexo98 will do the trick on a 2023 NX350?

Should be. Just skip to #4 since you probably don’t have a scan tool
My winter TPMS set took over an hour of driving to register but they finally did. 👍
My question is; can we change the name that appears in the selection menu? I think it says Group 2 right now. Obviously not a big deal but it would be nice. 🙂

If the system was relearned with a TPMS tool you don’t need to drive. Just rescan each sensor and the light will turn off.
