Default * Beeps on locking 🤔

Twice I have parked my NX and locked the doors using the sensor on the drivers door, the mirrors fold as usual, but the car makes 8 beeps from the front end.

Anyone had the same?

Does anyone know what it might be? The car is fully locked so it is not a security issue.

I don't know what the situation is... but according to the manual...

Door lock buzzer
If an attempt to lock the doors using the smart key system is made when a door is not fully closed, a buzzer will sound continuously for 5 seconds. Fully close the door to stop the buzzer, and lock the doors again.

I have had the same happen with my parked 350h as well. Never did figure out why it was beeping so much... 8 distinct beeps, not a continuous tone. I also struggle with the close and lock on the rear liftgate which tends to just beep at me a bunch, but that's another story.

Thanks for the reply @lsft It is definitely not the door lock buzzer as all 5 doors are locked and the mirrors have folded in. It is also 8 separate beeps. Remains a mystery…

I suggest asking your Lexus dealership. Hopefully they can answer what it is... Mystery...

@NXBob Thanks for confirming that I am not just hearing things that aren’t there!😬

Key to closing the tailgate is to press and hold the lock button until it has beeped twice then immediately release it and walk away from the tailgate. This avoids the sensor thinking you are returning because you forgot something.

This was a long time ago but maybe the circuit the beeps come from is unchanged. Despite my laughing at the dealer’s tech knowledge of the new model, I will try and document which occasions I get 8 beeps and then ask the dealer once I have a pattern.

It happened to me too, and it could be that it was parked in the garage and it thought that it was too close to the obstacles in front?

I can reproduce the 8 beeps if I don't turn off the power before exiting the door, but then it won't lock the car and mirrors won't fold.

I think you may have Found the answer @nx450hfspt !😬

I do park as close to the wall of my parking space as I can - usually a foot away from it. This has happened when the front is right up to the wall and when the rear is right up to it.

If I park an inch or two further away it probably doesn’t happen. I will test your theory and report back. Thanks!

That also happens in gen 1. When you walk away with your keys.. it will beep saying that your key is not in the car.

The other day I had some passengers in the rear seat for the first time. When we parked, I had a message on the MID, saying check rear seats. when I got out and locked the car, I got a bunch of beeps and lights. I haven't researched it yet, but I think it has some kind of don't leave kids in the car system which may trigger this as well.

Anyone else seen this?

you can disable this in the vehicle settings. I can’t remember where offhand but you could look in the index of your manuals and find it I’m sure.

Yep, it can be disabled. It appears to be based on when the back doors are opened relative to when the car is started.

I figured I would comment on it here as it could be why some are lock beeping/flashers issues.
