I am unable to make a connection between my compatible smart phone and my 2023 NX450H+. When I scan the VIN, the screen should show me a 8 digit code that I would enter on my phone to establish the connection. However when the screen pops up where the numbers should be it is blank and indicates that there was an error and to try again. I have tried dozens of times but to no success. I have deleted the app on the phone and reinstalled it but still no success. I did the reset by holding the volume button down for 10 seconds and this does a manual reset but still no connection. Any suggestions? 🤔
When you say, “ Lexus connect “, are you talking about the official Lexus app. I’m an Apple user and it looks something like this. Lexus Connect is something different from the App Store (third party app)
Yes I am talking about the official Lexus app available through the Apple app store or the Android app store. The Lexus communication module in the car doesn't provide me with the 8 digit code tk make connection with the Lexus app kn my khone,
Are you able to pair your phone using Bluetooth only. Try this first. Go into the Bluetooth setting of your phone. See if you can find the NX listed as devices. Go ahead and remove them. If you see more than one vehicle listed as Nx, remove them, all. Removing the app only will not clear your “learned” Bluetooth devices.
After you’ve removed all references from the Bluetooth setting, try and pair your phone using Bluetooth only.
If Bluetooth works and you’re able to make phone calls, then we can get past this. The only time I remember that the NX asked me to scan a VIN number is the first time I was trying to establish the app to my digital key when I first acquired my new NX. There may be a few reasons why you’re not able to establish a connection. maybe it was already paired with another phone. Or the vehicle was already registered to another driver. This sometimes happens when you buy a a preowned car and the dealership does not reset the enfortainment console.
Are you the original owner of vehicle (new or preowned), or if this thing has ever worked. Are you’re trying this for the first time since you acquired the vehicle. These things are little hard to troubleshoot, not knowing where to start from.
Yes the car was registered to a previous owner, however the Lexus Connect representative confirmed that his registration had already been removed in their system. The phone connects wirelessly to the car through Bluetooth and there is only one NXZ vehicle in the lust. Also, the SOS button is green.
Ok. So we are getting somewhere. Since you are able to connect via BT, we can rule that out. The issue may be that the enfortainment console may still be holding its previous owner settings.
when you first turn on your vehicle, do you see a “Welcome” message with your name. For me it’s my name which I set in my Lexus profile on my app. If you are seeing another name or a name that you do not recognize then it’s your clue that the enfortainment unit needs to be reset completely.
2 years ago I purchased a used Toyota thru a non Toyota dealer. GM dealer was not able to reset the enfortainment unit. I had to take it to Toyota to get a factory reset done. We kept seeing another persons name on the Welcome screen.
