Default 2026 nx

Just watched a video on YouTube from a Lexus dealership can't remember where on the minor updates for the 2026 NX. They were very very minor. It's hard to believe that this generation has been out since 2022 and this is the fifth year and the changes have only been the glove box is now changed to the color of the seats. Would love to see them replace the black piano key plastic center console and door inserts and replace them or at least as an option of wood grain like in my RX.. what other improvements upgrades would you all like to see? By the way my wife loves it. Crazy over 40 mpg on her 350h.

NX500h model. Although, I know the RX500h had its share of "new" issues, so if they did bring the 500h powertrain to the NX, it would be a fingers crossed situation that those issues indeed got sorted prior.

I think that's wishful thinking though, it would make the NX a bit too quick and probably eat too much into their sales of more expensive models.

I thought the glovebox color change happened with the 2025 model year.

The changes I would like to see with the NX:
- Get rid of RFT + add a spare (if spare is that much of a problem then a mobility kit is fine; but seriously this is an SUV, it is designed wrong if it can't even accommodate a spare).
- Get rid of touchscreen climate controls.
- Get rid of haptic controls on steering wheel.
- Get rid of electronic door handles.
- Get rid of piano black.
- Get rid of black plastic trim around the wheel arches.
- Offer a no cost option for smaller wheels on high end trims (e.g. 450h+).

I forgot about the wheel well trim. Yes my RX 2024 has color coordinated ones and looks so much better.

And upgrade the standard crappy stereo. Without having to spend 5 grand to get to the next package level

It's been years since I've had a vehicle (SUV or sedan) that came with a spare tire.

Did they come with a tire repair kit or did they have RFT? Of course, if you have only owned BMWs then that would explain it. However, they seem to be reintroducing spares into their lineup. My RDX has a spare and I had to use it once. If I had RFT, I would have had to change all 4 tires.

We just picked up a '26 Premium with RFTs. No kit or anything with it. Not a big deal as the RFT are being removed next week and replaced with Michelin CC2's. Modern Spare has been ordered.

RFTs will not even get us out of our driveway in the winter !!

Lightbulb Gen2 ( starting 2022) NX pretty close to perfect.

Well @fred430 I would say Lexus did a pretty darn good job when the put out gen2 in 2022 since as you say there haven't been any major updates. The gen2 was a significant improvement over the gen1 NX, which is why I bought one

YMMV,
MidCow3

P.S. - Who wants the NX to be an RX anyway ?

I've owned a few RX's in the past but just bought an NX PHEV for the 302HP and preferred style. Betweenvthe weird snoutnosed front end and dropping the superb 6 cyl engine, the RX has become a joke. Just my two cents.

See our priorities are are different. I think needing 302 horsepower in a SUV is a joke. Had a six cylinder 2017 RX 450h and now a 2024 RX 350h and the 24 is world's better. See one of my priorities is getting 38 mpg versus 27 in my 2017. This generation RX is by far the best selling luxury SUV so there is a lot of people that don't think it is a joke.

@Freds430 look at you month spending/budget. Mileage and gas cost is a very insignificant cost in the overall spending. People want to get the best mpg they can and still retain a level of performance we can accept. Be honest, whether you got 99 mpg or 10 mpg would not have a significant affect on yours on any person except maybe a travelling salesman/saleswoman with a large territory,

YMMV,

It depends on where you live and the price of gas there. Where I live, price of premium is around $5 a gallon. The difference in gas costs between driving an SUV that gets 20 mpg vs 40 mpg for 15000 miles a year is about (375 gallons * $5) = $1875 a year. Not that big of a deal right now, but I was starting to get concerned a few years ago when gas prices were north of $7 and seemed like they were heading higher with no ceiling. That's when I was aggressively shopping for a 350h but so was everyone else and it became impossible to find one at a reasonable price (i.e. without markup).

That power would make a big difference if you were driving in the hills/mountains with an SUV full of passengers.

Not the point again 300 horsepower 500 horsepowe could care less. It is. Lexus SUV. I am frugal and have made wise financial decisions why I retired at 56 and now biggest problem is estate planning and avoiding inheritance taxes. Which I could go into more detail but shouldn't. The NX plugin is $14,000 than the NX350h $14,000 more for 60 more horsepower Yes that makes absolute perfect financial sense. I guarantee you he has a car loan on it.
I would not roll my window down of my RX and throw $10 out the window once a year and certainly wouldn't roll my window and throw $1,800 a year out my window would you. Again everyone has different priorities.
