Default TRD Door Stabilizers

Installed TRD Door Stabilizers on my NX and the difference is dramatic. The car handles really well when making turns. I don't feel the car body flexing like it did before installing these.

Part number is MS304-00001 and you need to buy 2 sets of them for both front and rear doors. As a bonus, I also installed the JDM reflector buttons (part 81580-V1040) for the front doors. A simple $1 upgrade, but you need to get them from Japan.

Awesome, just what I need. Can you share the link of the store?

Thanks,

Ebay is probably the easiest for most people. Just search for MS304-00001 and buy two sets. I see a lot of listings label them as being for a specific car but it's a mostly universal part for all Toyota/Lexus models.

If you don't care about the TRD logo, you can buy the generic AISIN model on Amazon.jp below. Again, make sure to order 2 sets. AISIN produces the OEM door loop which you'll see when you replace them.

There's also a version with the GR logo if you prefer that over TRD.

dramatic difference huh. it takes a lot of force to flex a unibody -- about 20,000 lbs of force to twist a super tiny amount. amazing you could feel that flex while turning

Maybe I'm not describing it correctly, but the car handles and feels much better while turning. I was skeptical at first myself, but I'm glad I took the plunge.

If I felt it was a waste of $250, I would have no problem telling all of you to skip this mod.

@tundotcom Did you need to buy any of the bolts they mention?
The Red Dots you spoke of in first post, I didn't see a link to them. Did you have one?

No, I just reused the original bolts. They fit perfectly. The box does come with additional bolts but I didn't bother using them.

The red reflector buttons are about 110 yen each. You can use a proxy buying service like Buyee.
https://buyee.jp/rakuten/detail/gpinnovation%3A10006800
Buy two of them since this listing is for 1 button.

Another option is to buy a pair on Amazon.jp.
https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/gp/product/B0C6V331GL/
It's more expensive but a little easier to use. You need to make a separate Amazon Japan account, but you can easily change the language to English at the top right.

If you buy the door stabilizers from Amazon, it's probably best to just tack on the reflectors to save on shipping.

@tundotcom THANKS for the additional info. Still weighing Bang for the Buck. They are extremely expensive when currency conversion is made.

Are these full Factory Part replacements? Or is it just the shields and the U-type latch is still Factory Part? I guess I'm asking what are you really paying for?

Is there no US Amazon product that is the same?

Watch this Japanese installation video. Everything is pretty straightforward. He shows you around the 5 minute mark how it works. The sliding mechanism will adjust to your door closing, giving you more body rigidity. You need a T40 torx for the door loops and a T30 for the bracket.

Attached photo is the OEM door loop made by AISIN. This door stabilizer kit gives you a new door loop with spring loaded slider, and a bracket for the door.

The yen is really weak against the dollar right now, so if you have a credit card with no foreign transaction fees, I would pay in JPY on Amazon.jp. It comes out to $213 USD shipped for two pairs of the door stabilizers. If you use ebay or Amazon US, you'd be paying $280+. All of those Amazon US sellers are just shipping from Japan anyway.

@tundotcom So I just ordered the AISIN DSL-002 version you provided in the link above. I hope there are instructions in English on how to install them. Any hints in case they don't? These do fit a 2023 NX 450H+ Base I hope? I couldn't get it to translate the make, model to english so I could verify fit. Are the photos you provided in the original post of them installed on your car? It looks like there is a piece that goes on the door and on the pillar, correct?

I also got the Dot Reflectors while I was shopping in Japan. I was surprised that no one in the US has these. I assume you just pull the plugs out and put the reflectors in. Is it as simple as that?

There won't be any English instructions. They will fit your car. Ever since I got these, I started looking at all the door latch mechanisms on Toyota and Lexus vehicles whether in real life or on youtube reviews, and they are all the same design.

The Japanese installation video is pretty straight forward starting at the 5:40 mark. Open the door and start with the pillar door loop. Use a plastic trim tool to pop the black cover off the loop. Use a torx T40 screwdriver or wrench to remove the two bolts for the door loop. Remove the original door loop. Place the new door stabilizer loop in place with the TRD/Aisin logo pointing towards the interior of the car. It's a bit tricky to reinstall the bolts while also simultaneously holding the spring flap out of the way, but just be patient. If you can get a second person to hold the spring flap completely out of the way, it will be much easier. After you're done tightening the bolts, move onto the door. Using your torx T30 screwdriver or wrench, remove the two bolts that are lined up vertically. The thin metal bracket only fits one way so it's hard to mess it up. Reinstall the bolts. Then slide the two plastic pieces onto the bracket. Look at the pictures to figure out the orientation, they should slide easily into place. And that's it for the installation.

There are English installation videos on Youtube like this one for the GR86 but it's basically the same process.

As for the reflector buttons, when I tried ordering from a US dealer, this is what they said:
We show that Reflector Assy 81580-V1040 is not available for the U.S. Market.
For Non-U.S. Parts we require a copy of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ( NHTSA ) HS-7 Declaration form completed for the vehicle/entity that imported the vehicle into the US.
And yes, installation is very easy. Use the plastic trim tool to lift up the edges of the original black plastic button and just pull it out. Take the reflector button and just pop it in place.

@tundotcom THANKS. I may get the wife to hold them then. She won't want to but hey, I'll just remind her the car will perform better when she's racing around corners. She'll jump at the thought. I hope.

Thanks for posting this and the help. I'll let you know how it goes.

I just came across this post. I am super excited to try this out. I am wondering if this will make the closing sound on the rear seats better - it sounds terrible right now.

I purchased the ASIN version on amazon japan. Thanks for the suggestion!

I also bought the red reflectors on toyota website for local pick up - $1.75 each

Edit: I actually cancelled my order and decided to purchase the TRD badged one (I like the OEM stuff lol). I purchased them from blackhawkjapan for about $210 shipping included.

Does anyone know how much to torque these?
