Default Lexus NX 2021 - info

There are more and more info about lexus NX 2021 and it is expected to be fully redesigned model.
Here is some info I found today:

Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/399275/t...future-models/
The same model year (2021) will see the introduction of an all-new NX slated to come out in the fall of 2021 on the TNGA-K platform with five different powertrains, including a 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid with 40 miles (64 kilometers) of electric range. The NX is said to use a newly developed infotainment system with a 14-inch touchscreen as part of a “unique cockpit.” Some of the other tech will include a cloud-based navigation system and remote parking using a smartphone app, while the F-Sport model will offer 20-inch wheels. We’re being told it will have a “strikingly avant-garde design with revolutionary tech.”

I hope the article’s author meant to say 2021 model year... the wait for a redesigned NX is killing me! A state of the art infotainment system, comparable to Audi virtual cockpit, would be nice.

Yes, it is kind of confusing, because at the start of the sentence he talks about MY 2021, but then says "fall 2021", when clearly in the context it implies that model will come out in "fall 2020" with MY 2021.
I am waiting for MY 2021. I care less about 14'' screen and more about beeing slightly bigger car than current NX - like RAV4 has more trunk space.

The way I read the article (read the full article guys) suggests they are indeed referring to the 2022 model year UX and NX. Sorry guys. I was also hoping for 2021 but it doesn’t look that way.

As I am re-reading this article again and again, it appears that you are right and I just understood the way I hoped it is going to happen.

The next NX better be a showstopper as this is a highly contested and enviable market segment. The NX is nice but it is showing its age in every way, particularly the interior/dash setup. The next NX will very likely be based on the current Rav4 and I am guessing a new hybrid powertrain (from the Rav4) as well as a new turbo 4.

The interior/dash inside the NX is perfect for me. The touchscreen is responsive and looks modern, and the physical buttons are a must for me. Plus ergonomically interacting with the interior features is perfect. I wouldn't give up any of that for a newer interior design with touch capacitive buttons and what not.

Anyone seen the interior design of the new camry and corolla? Heres to hoping lexus doesnt head that way as well.

.... um, what touchscreen? Are you referring to the touchpad down on the console?

No, not the touch pad. The screen situated at the top of my dashboard (2020 NX300, not an F sport) is touch screen. I heard lots of complaining about the touchpad you mention. I think its okay. At least the computer itself seems intuitive. My problem is the distraction while you drive. Other cars with old school clicky ***** are designed so that you can easily select things without making a mistake while keeping your eyes on the road. That's partially why the germans hate touch screens - no need to look away from the road, to use a screen which does not have capacitive feedback to confirm you pressed the right selection while getting fingerprints onto the screen.

At least we still have physical buttons for things such as climate control, unlike Caddilac.

The plug-in hybrid version of the 2022 NX is definitely on my radar, especially if it's a little larger than the current NX. I just hope Lexus includes a space saver spare, as I'm one of those that considers it a must.

Here's to hoping that the EV Federal Tax Credits don't run out for Toyota by then.

Question: for those that have driven the RAV4, is the current NX more refined?

I've been in a new rav4. The chassis feels similar, but the NX300 is on a completely different level in terms of suspension dampening and engine. Interior definetely better but that's not to say the Rav4 is poorly made. It just doesnt have the driving dynamics.

We debated for a long time before settling with the NX300. Initially was set on buying a Mazda CX-5, as it seems like a great compromise between the two, with drivetrain tech just as capable as the NX300 for thousands less. It drives quite well and the handling is good, but theres no denying the NX300 is still considerably better in that regard. Seems the general consensus is that these dont handle well. Even my non F sport NX with no variable suspension has practically zero body roll with excellent dampening. It's very comfortable yet responsive for its size. The Mazda is more direct and "Natural" with the way it handles, especially with the super precise and communicative steering rack. The lexus is just as responsive but more refined and less feel.

LoL zero body roll? Are you kidding me? I have an F-Sport with AVS and it wallows around with the worst of them...it's barely better than our 3rd gen v6 rav4 limited. Go try a Macan or F-Pace or even X3 and it's light years better and even those guys lean around the corners compared to most premium cars (like say an RC350), let alone sports cars.

I don’t think it has zero body roll but it certainly doesn’t wallow around...
