I'm in love with this thing! Keep it just as aggressive like this when it makes it to production like Cadillac did with the CTS Coupe!!!

Gotta love these interviews "nothing has been done on production version"... and in 6 months - "here is production version, it starts selling in 30 days"

;-)

Default 2015 Lexus NX Hybrid Prototype Spotted in Colorado [Video]

Roman and Nathan from TFL Car are somewhere in Colorado tracking down prototypes that have yet to reach consumer's eyes.

The car they spotted today is without a doubt the new Lexus NX, previewed by a crazy concept in Frankfurt, but rumored for a few months before that. It's a crossover that's smaller than the RX, and the video actually reveals something quite interesting about what is expected of the car. The test engineers were Benchmarking the car against the BMW X3 and Audi Q5.

The test mule is based on the RAV4 from bumper to bumper, but there seem to be some Lexus elements inside the car.

Rumor has it the NX is going to be offered with Toyota's new turbo-4 engine for the 200t model and a hybrid system similar to the ES in the 300h.

Beyond what what little we can learn about the car from just looking at a RAV4 test mule, the video is really funny, seeing as all those Japanese test engineers are rushing to cover up their car and block the camera.

Pause at 1:26 and you'll clearly see 3IS steering wheel controls, paddle shifters, and a pull handbrake/e-brake, and seemingly gated shifter.

hopefully that's just a rav4 body stuck on it and not what it will actually look like.

^ +1 ... Better just be a mule. Lexus officially has lost it if it comes out like that.

Great more Lexus badged toyotas - just what we need lol.

GX = Toyota Prado
LX = LandCruiser
RX = Highlander
ES = Avalon

Now this NX badged RAV4.

Wtf is Lexus doing??? They are killing their brand image imo.
Where the hell is the SC coupe, RC coupe, new LS, competitor for CLS/A7/6series, F cars??????
How bout some new engines?

I honestly have almost no hope left for them turning things around.

MB, BMW, and Audi are killing it with new models for every niche u can think of.

Again, please understand the difference between platform sharing and re-badging. This is not a re-badge.

The CUV market is exploding and the Germans figured that out with the X1, X3, Q3, Q5, GLK etc...Lexus is actually late to this party.

Sharing platform is one thing, but having a new Lexus prototype be caught with a barely modified RAV4 sheetmetal is quite another. Spy shots like these don't help Lexus's image at all. Lexus needs to be more careful with the prototypes they build, knowing that these prototypes will be seen by the public in one way or another, being driven on public roads and all. Put on much heavier camo or strip more bits from the exterior. Just don't make its Toyota root so painfully obvious from just a simple glance at the exterior. As it is this prototype is shameful for a Lexus fan to be honest.

I know the difference - thank u!

I have no issue with a small CUV - in fact as i said Lexus should have many more models to match the Germans.

I have no issues with sharing parts with Toyota to save costs.

My issue is where is the Lexus DNA in these products.
They were obviously developed for Toyota and now Lexus will put on fancier trim and nicer interior and a big Grill and call it a new model.

Lexus needs to get away from Toyota with separate R&d, engineers, designers etc.

Audi is very good at separting themselves from VW. There are no blatant rebadges like Lexus has in their lineup.

I think its safe to say it is just a prototype and that the production version will look different.
