Nx200T strange noise from gas tank
#5
Is engine running (idling) or just ignition in 'ON' & in Park ? . In my 2016 NX200T there is 3/4 tank of fuel and zero sound from the fuel tank ( fill cap opened w/screw driver from ear to fill neck . Very scientific, I guess ) with engine running (idling) & tranny in Park.
My understanding of the fuel system in the NX is that the fuel pump/regulator assembly inside the tank runs to supply low pressure fuel to a high pressure pump situated at the start of the fuel rail to the injectors.
Had came across posts on defective regulators in this forum. Do a search & hopefully you'll find more insight(s) to your problem.
Lex2000TL may be on to something. The fuel pump in tank is cool by the fuel and operating consistently with low fuel levels will shorten pump life. This is only a guess. Your pump runs for a short period, then cuts out from thermal stress, as a result, cools down and then restarts and the cycle repeats.
