I just replaced mine last week in SJ, Low Price Auto Glass. If you search through this forum, there are multiple recommendations for different areas. What part of the bay?

I also need a new windshield too... the crack in my windshield now spreads across the damn thing! Anybody have any recommendations for shops that do solid work and competitive prices (didn't pay extra to have glass coverage on my insurance so I have to pay out of pocket).

This may sound crazy but I went to safelight glass on my 07 Volvo S60R that had the rain sensor **** in the glass and they actually did an amazing job. Everything still worked 2 years later. I didn't have windshield coverage and the OEM one was over 1500 dollars. I paid about 250 for the job. They give workmanship warranty for 24 months so it may be worth a shot.. maybe worth looking into..

I've gone to Secureway Auto Glass off Bryant for my Acura. You could try them out, they worked fairly quick as well.

dang... I just got quoted from the lexus dealership for windshield replacement. Parts is ~1.4k and labor is ~300. Is it always this expensive? How much should I expect from a glass shop?

I think it depends on the glass you use determines on the cost. I didn't use OEM Volvo glass and saved over 1400..
If you DD your car and there is a possibility of it cracking again. Just go with a cheaper alternative.

I went with safelight. They gave me some off brand glass, but it had all the OEM stuff and was rain replant as well!

Do you have comprehensive insurance? If so, the insurance should pay for it...you just need to pay for your deductible.....

I agree! My insurance (Progressive) set everything up already, paying the deductible and they'll cover the rest. Just waiting for a call from Safelite to see if they have my windshield.

Should I be concerned driving with a cracked windshield? the crack started from the bottom middle and started to spread to the middle of the windshield.
