Just saw the strike news on TV a while ago. Can't imagine the reaction of the commuters after the stroke of midnight (about 30 min away) when the strike officially starts. It's especially not a good time at this part of the holiday season..

Well as of today, the Jamaica busline is on strike. MTA owns that busline. There will be a domino affect, and may affect the subways and city buses.

2 and a half hours till the deadline, this city-wide transit strike seems more immenent with every passing second. First time in 25 years, its going to be brutal. Estimates are saying that it will cost the city $400 million per day or more all costs considered.

I actually made it in here. Got to work at 7am. The drive in was not to bad, but going home will be a nightmare. Drove the truck to absorb the potholes since there is no room for avoidance. Gridlock City USA

I just got into work about 45 min ago, but the commute wasn't bad at all. The longest part of the commute was waiting on line at the Bayside LIRR station to get tickets. After that, it took about 25 min on the train to get to Penn Station, and then another 15 min to walk down to 18th St. It's cold, though! The conductor didn't even punch my ticket so I'm going to use it for tomorrow. Good thing I have a 1/2 day today. Gonna pick up my car from the clear bra installer. Woohoo!

Today wasn't bad at all since I had a ticket from yesterday which they didn't punch. Got in on time and everything went smoothly. I'm starting to like the LIRR a lot better than the usual bus/subway/subway commute. If only it wasn't so damn expensive.
