The Lexus Dealership that Stole Christmas (in Bridgewater, New Jersey)

As a result of Lexus of Bridgewater's Service Department, our pristine 2006 LX470 (with only 69K miles on it) has been declared a total loss by our insurance company.

This is our story.

Lexus of Bridgewater's Service team found water damage to computer components in our car and told us it was due to a windshield leak (and maybe it was, in part). We approved them to fix all the problems they identified. Unfortunately, that was just the beginning of our nightmare.

A few days after we got our car back from Lexus of Bridgewater, there was a heavy rain. The morning after the heavy rain, we drove the car and suddenly massive amounts of water gushed into the car, spilling down the pillars of the vehicle and oozing out of the felt interior fabric. The water pooled into puddles in the floor (at both the front and back seat floors). The damage was extensive and required quick action. At this point we felt we could not trust Lexus of Bridgewater, and so we immediately took our car to Lexus of Route 10 and ask them to help us figure out what happened.

Lexus of Route 10 informed us that the cause of the water damage was a severely clogged sunroof drain. Lexus of Route 10 mechanics said that clogged sunroof drains were one of the "usual suspects" Lexus service professionals should check whenever there is water entering the interior cabin of the vehicle. Lexus of Route 10 also said that this type of clog does not happen quickly, but rather takes quite some time (usually years) to develop. Accordingly, we know that this clog could not have occurred in the few days between the time we received our vehicle back from Lexus of Bridgewater and the rain storm.

The Service team at Lexus of Bridgewater was questioned about whether they inspected the sunroof drains at the time they found water damage in the vehicle cabin. The said that they did and they said that there was no clog when they check it. In other words, they lied. They refused to own their mistake because they knew the implication: they destroyed our vehicle to the point where it would cost more than the value of the vehicle to repair it (i.e., they cause a total loss to our vehicle).

It only gets worse: With our car totaled as a result of Lexus of Bridgewater's Service Department, we are without a vehicle until we can find a car to buy. We asked Lexus of Bridgewater to supply us with a temporary loaner for the interim. The Service Manager immediately refused. Knowing that they are at fault for the damage to our vehicle and that my wife is 8.5 months pregnant (i.e., about to pop), they still refused. Happy Holiday's from Lexus of Bridgewater.
Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas! *Truly, a December to Remember.*

Sorry to hear. Where you at least happy with Lexus of Rt10? Did they offer any additional help with your situation?
