Tail of the Dragon 2015
 

It's finally here folks! The road trip of the year. 11 miles. 318 turns. US 129 resides on the border of North Carolina and Tennessee. We'll be leaving Thursday Sept 3rd and caravan together. We leave the Dragon on Monday Sept 7th.

This trip coincides with the annual NICOfest. So, we'll be riding with fellow Dragon slayers in Nissans and Infinitis!

We'll be renting lodges (Fontana Village) that room 5 people each at the cost of roughly $100+ per person for the weekend. Liquor is byob because it's a dry county.

Time for the caravan has been worked out!

Update - We got a 3 room cabin for the early people who signed up. We'll look into getting 2 room cabins or hotel rooms for whoever else is going!

Did that in my 13 RXh three weeks ago. Great fun. 'Took it as an intentional side trip on the way to a graduation. A friend shared a lengthy article from a magazine, and that piqued my interest. The best thing is that, after January of this year, commercial vehicles and vehicles of over 30' (??) long are restricted from using the TotD (watch the YouTube videos of gigantic trucks taking the entire shoulder-to-shoulder on turns - I was not going to take that route simply because of the possibility of running - literally - into a truck).

And no, I set no record (fast or slow).

Nice dude. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It really is a wonderful road. As are some of the other back roads in the area.

When I did it in the lotus i was sweating so much from having to turn the steering left and right, what a fun road

Best year at the Dragon yet! A bunch of Volvo's crashed into each other, Corvette guy dealt with karma, and we escaped without a scratch! Next year will be bigger and better so stay tuned!

We are actually going again this year.. We are going at the end of this month from Aug31-Sept 5th. I posted most of them on my page and a mini video.. This year i plan on taking more pics and videos. I will be sure to post them up.
