Default March 23: NELOC SE Caravan to NY Meet N Greet

Hey NELOC SE (MD/DC/VA),

Who wants to run up to NYC on Saturday the 23rd to meet NELOC NE? We'd meet about 9am, grab a quick bite to eat, and then will be on the road by 10am (times can be adjusted). We'd probably leave NY/NJ around 5, and get back around 9pm or so.

If you're thinking about going, post up. I'm going to try to make it.

NELOC caravans are the best. Rolling Lexuses is just a thrilling site. So, the more, the merrier. All Lexuses are invited (and well-kept Toyotas too ). And if an occasional Acura or Bimmer or Mercedes or Audi wants to join us, we won't complain.

Possible rest stops to pick up NELOCers:

Maryland House I95 in Harford County in the median

Delaware Rest Stop on I95 in the median

NJ Turnpike Northbound Rest Area between Exits 1 & 2

NJ Turnpike Northbound Rest Area between Exits 4 & 5

Thanks for trying to accomodate the Southerners, Kut....but honestly, I am not sure how the turnout will be from the South. So I'd hate to move a NYC meet to South Jersey, and then only 3 or 4 cars show up from the South (hec, I'm not even a definite myself yet). That's not fair to a NELOC North Meet&Greet.

And AC is still 3 hours away from the Baltimore area....so whether we go to North Jersey or AC, it's around 3 hours (though there is inherently more tolls when heading into NYC).

So I hesitate on 2 weeks notice moving the location this far south just for us. But we appreciate the thought.

Yet on that note, let's plan a bonafide North meets South meet in AC or the Philly area later on in the summer. With plenty of notice, it could be a helluva NELOC meet.

Let's do a sweeping caravan. Each meet up point would be any of the large rest areas along I-95. Then the furthest south starts the caravan stopping at each rest area designated and all roll together to the next one. Then we can meet up at the first large DE rest area as a whole before the longer trip and go from there.

I'm in on a caravan if I can go.

Guys don't hold me on this as it is not written in stone, but usually the cash lanes for tolls are not that heavily backed-up on the weekend as it is during the week.
Don't stress it that much on the EZ pass if you don't have it.

I do know you can purchase per-paid EZ at some rest stops.

If you don't have an EZ Pass, don't sweat it. We'll wait for you along the way, NELOCers can be patient.

But I'll probably hand you an EZ Pass application when I see you.

About tolls, the good thing is that all cash lanes are EZ Pass lanes as well. So, in the least, we can all stay single file in one EZ Pass lane so we could keep an easy track on who's held up. I'll be getting an EZ Pass by then.

Yep, we should all be fine. Many of us have navigated the toll booths many times in the past.

Good question.

I was kind of waiting to see who was coming from where....but maybe the Arundel Mills Mall area would be fairly central, maybe at the Chick-Fil-A. And then we can pick up others along the way if necessary (from Northern MD, Deleware, PA and South Jersey).
