engine braking...
ok, i'm sure most of you don't do this... but i occassionally use my eshift to downshift to engine brake in combo with my brakes... how bad is this? i mean... the most the rev will go up to (from down shifting) would be around 3k rev/min maximum.
i always drive with eshift on to be ready to use for... any reason... including braking and speeding up by using a lower gear. maybe that's why i spend so much on gas... lol and where's the snow man!! snow drifting?!?!?! |
Yikes.... I've always believed the rule.... Brake pads are cheaper than clutches. Engine braking causes undue heat under load. Just buy better pads.
|
ditto... i would only due that in an emergency situation where you need to brake harder...
just like todd said buy better pads or go supra TT 4 piston swap setup/ bbk (rotora/endless/etc...) |
werd, thanks for the tippo!
|
yeah...only time i engine brake is when im passing a cop that is trying to catch speeders, i can slow down w/o hitting my brakes and make him pay attention to me.
|
Does this cause a weird burnt smell? lol :D
|
no... On my porsche sometimes it would if i let the clutch slip too much.
