DON'T GET SCAMMED - READ THIS NOTICE especially if you post your email / phone number

This notice applies to new members who do not yet have the capability to use private messaging, as well as more established members who do.

IF YOU POST YOUR EMAIL OR PHONE NUMBER ON THE FORUM it will likely get picked up by scammers or bots and will be used to try to scam you.

One way that it may happen is a new member posts their email saying 'I don't have PM yet, contact me via email at xxxx@yyy.com".

Or if you reply that you are interested in an item, sometimes the scammer might reply on the forum saying something like “your email for faster response?” But note it isn’t the seller posting that!

You'll likely get emails shortly after from someone claiming to be the seller to get your payment info. But it's often NOT THEM, it's a scammer.

If you ask for some more details, they often will google up images and details from other similar sales to send you.

There is a simple way to avoid this issue and avoid getting scammed, both the buyer and seller can post in the sale thread confirming receipt of the email and state the date/time you got it.

Example:
"Hey seller, thanks I got your email with purchase details on MM/DD/YY HH:MM. Please confirm back that was you sending the email by replying to this thread".

Then MAKE SURE the person who replies is the member selling the item.

-----------------------------
ALSO If you see someone posting something like "your email for faster response" when you've replied to a sale thread, it usually isn't the seller. First, use the 'report a post' feature to bring the moderators attention to that post. Then follow the same protocol outlined above if you take the sale to email to confirm exactly who you are talking to.

Same applies to all the above if you get text messages to your phone after posting it in a sale thread. It's just as likely to be a scammer, ask them to post in the thread confirming they are the seller (and make sure it is the exact same screen name as the seller if they do).
