Description:
Howdy fellas.
I have for you all a good condition 1996 Lexus SC400. I bought this car knowing it had issues and got a history on here wrangling a transmission and then trying to hunt down discontinued parts. Needless to say this car is still a project but I did go as far as I could with it.
The positives are good. The 1UZ in it is purring perfectly. When I got it, it was running on 4 cylinders with the timing jumped about 180. I put all my first efforts into getting it running right and Happy to say it does. Now I can't remember everything I did under hood but to bullet point it
- Timing belt and water pump
- Coil pack
- Plugs and wires
- Short ram intake pipe
- Reman steering rack and pump
- Water inlet pipe
- Throttle position sensor
After a new set of tires and brakes and calipers it was ready for a test ride round the block. That's where I found it had transmission issues. And is where it's still stuck today. After replacing the trans with a JDM one of the same year and make and doing some sensor and hardware swaps over I over looked one little detail that's defeated me. Its got a significant leak while running and I believe it to be the main seal on the transmission.
Interior is what you'd expect for a 30 year old car that lived most it's life in Florida. Ripped leather but still entirely usable.
While I do not have a title for this vehicle since none required where I live in Connecticut after 25 years I did do my diligence before buying it back then and run the vin at my job at Toyota and it comes back Clean.
Carfax History shows it was sold originally somewhere in Massachusetts back in 96. Then into Florida for about 18 years before making it's way back to Connecticut in 2018.
I have owned this vehicle since 2020.
My asking price is $5000 OBO based on my local market.
Buyer will need to bring a trailer or arrange transport as I'm not confident in this car driving any distance with how bad the trans fluid loss is while driving.
Please, serious buyers only. I am as upfront as I can be with my current lawn ornament. This car will need work and wish to sell to more capable hands.
