Default Knock sensor/s R&R

2000 Lexus ES300 V6

Hi Folks;
The old Lexus will not go into O/D after the engine warms up.
Consensus is that it may be the Knock sensor/s.
Correct me if I am wrong but is it (or they) beneath the intake manifold?
Also, is it one or two?
Some people caution that non-genuine Lexus knock sensors are problematic.

any advice?

Roy

First verify the sensors are bad, if they are you will certainly have knock sensor code(s). Do you have a code reader? There are 2 under the intake, you 100% must use only genuine parts unless you like doing the job twice.

One other chap on youtube had to R&R the "speed sensor" to get the O/D problem sorted out. I am thinking that perhaps I should replace that also.

I R&R-ed the knock sensors and it appears to be going into o/d (I don't want to jinx it be saying it is working).
I found a lot of "clips and snaps" electrical connections with an assortment of ways to un-clips them. Some were like a Chinese puzzle box. Also the plastic under the bonnet is very brittle due to age and heat. Fitting this problem has been uphill from word one.
