I was cruising through Sears tool dept and I asked the guy "where are your floor jacks?" One of the other sales guys hears my question and comes over while calling a few others guys over. "You have to check this new one out?" On the shelf is an aluminum light weight 2 ton floor jack in red with "Craftsman" laser cut into the side. I thought I saw him pump it once to full height but I may have missed him as I was reading the box. The 2 ton limit is a bit concerning as the LS400 is about 3800 pounds I recollect.
It was a pretty nice unit as I'm in the market for a new floor jack. Any recco's?

Been wandering the net and came across this site reviewing a few floor jacks:

Those lightweight ones sure look trick but bottom line, I want a jack for service duty not just changing tires. Still, if you can relay any floor jacks you particularly like.

craftsman have a life time warranty. Good stuff. Also you are not lifting the entire 3800 lbs. 2 ton is 4000 lbs and is a good all round jack.
Lincoln is another excellent brand.
either case, never go under the car without jack stands. Spend the money for a quality set here, too.

RA40,
What is important to you? For me it is the minimum and maximum lift heights. Minimum so I can still get the jack to fit under a lowered car or a car with a flat tire. Maximum so that my 3-ton jack stands fit under the car ( although I usually use the 2-ton jacks ). Add a rubber hockey puck to the lift pad to protect the frame rails and basically ANY 2 1/2 ton full size jack works. I don't care about weight, lift per stroke etc etc. Just something that's low enough to fit under my car if i had a flat tire and goes high enough to fit 3-ton jack stands under. I bought mine from the local auto parts store ~$60 maybe?? Last for years.
