I have a 115,000 mile 93' sc400. I have a 75 shot of nitrous and am getting ready to put a torque converter into her. I changed the timing belt at about 85,000. I was wondering if anyone knew of any preventive maintenance that I should do. Also what transmission fluid do you recomend. I am wanting to go synthetic.

All of your help is greatly appreciated.

Wow!!

SC - Man, if U've got that many miles on her & have been squeezing for awhile, I'd just keep doing what U've been doing!! As far as tranny fluid, Mo says that the Toyota/Lexus fluid is as good as any available for the GS models so I'd imagine that it'll be good enough for your SC baby. I know there's not a synthetic ATF for the GS but not sure about the SC - wouldn't hurt to install a tranny cooler while U've drained things as an extra measure of longevity.

SC400nos,

Stick to Mean Gene's advise. He knows. The tranny you have can ONLY run with fresh type IV toyota tranny fluid do not experiment with this tranny, stay away from synthetic lubricants in the tranny!!!

If you have 115K it is NOT a good idea to switch to full synthetic motor oil NO MATTER what the store salesman tells you...stick to regular mineral based oil of a good reputable brand. If you want run a synthetic blend but not full synthetic.
