is this a good price for 60k service?
$490 plus tax, includes (price I think I would pay if I went somewhere cheap or replaced myself and just paid parts):
oil change & filter ($30)
rotate tires ($20)
adjust parking brake ($20?)
replace air filter ($20 part only)
spark plugs ($60)
replace fuel filter ($30?)
replace differential, brake, and transmission fluids (3 x $20 = $60)
coolant flush ($80, since "special" red coolant"
new wiper blades ($25 for 3 blades) (I may ask them not to do this, depending on how much they overcharge for wipers)
That comes to $345 if I go to a generic tune-up shop. Is rhe $145 premium worth it to go to a dealer?
Also, are there other things that should be replaced/checked at 60k miles? timing belt? water pump?

I think this is a good price, but spark plugs and timing belt/water pump not recommended by the owner manual until 90K. It's good to have dealer service your car and have good relationship with them incase you may need some little goodwill warranty in the future+ you get a loaner car. But this's personal preference, some will go with the independence shop and some will go with toyota dealer.

OK, I've read a lot of the old posts, and there seems to be a discrepancy as to whether spark plugs are required at 60K or not. My 1998 Lexus Owners Manaul Supplement clearly states ...
Replace Spark Plugs with a small 1 denoting a foot note.
The foot note says ... Maintenance Service Required under the terms of the Emission Control Warranty.
I second the good will option with going to the dealer, but I also appreciate the savings from going to another tune-up shop.
I paid ~500 for my 60K.
Hard to say exactly with the extra charge for synthetics, and the discount for bringing some of my own parts.

Whoops just noticed your SN says my first RX. My post is in reference to a GS400.
(8 spark plugs - so a little more for parts.)

That price sounds right on the money. Get your service writer to throw in the neat little IS300 as your loaner car and call it done! I run that thing ragged when they give it me. It's tiny, but the I-6 is just as quick as my V8 I think! I just like the E-shift and making that engine scream (within engine limits of course).
