full tranny flush
Lexus 1hr labor rate is $85
Toyota (here in Austin) $75
How do they do it, when they sell the oil at $20/bottle, look like they cut their own cost to do the full flush for you (ie charge you $10/bottle (dealer cost) instead or $20(mark up) X 4) (with Austin rate)
or Maybe, 1 hr at $40, 4 bottles at $20 ho ho ho, how it it, that is doable right? =120
When you ask for the full flush, make sure they understand that this is the service that: "you remove all the oil INSIDE the torque converter, NOT just drain the pan and refill from the transmission pan"
then they will know what you are talking about if you said those exact words. Most dealer here said they can't do it after you say that. But if they can do it for $120, I am very impressed with them, it's like doing it at home.

and quoted me a price of $100.00.
I am waiting for the BG Quick Clean I ordered to arrive before having this service done:
"BG quick clean for Automatic Transmissions is a safe, effective solvent/dispersant cleaner that will quickly remove accumulated deposits from the valve body, filter screen and other automatic transmission components prior to exchanging the dirty fluid for new ATF. Use BG PF5 to remove old fluid and cleaner from the system. This product is a part of the BG TDC® program"
.
Part No. 106
I have no idea how many miles the current fluid in my 139,000 mile transmission has gone.
I'll let everyone know how it goes.

SharpLS-96,
Obviously you again didn't do your homework. Can you tell me where Amsoil or Redline specifies that their synthetic ATF can be used as the T-IV replacement?
Let me see:
Amsoil Synthetic ATF.
"Recommended for applications requiring the following specifications:
GM Dexron II, Dexron III
Ford Mercon, Mercon V
Chrysler ATF+, ATF+2, ATF+3, ATF+4
Mitsubishi Diamond SP II & III
Allison C-3 & C-4 and TES-295
Caterpillar Powershift Transmission TO-2 & TO-3
Voith Commercial Transmissions
GM Strasbourg (European Imports) and Opel"
Redline Synthetic ATF:
"Synthetic ATF product is an approved GM Dexron II, Ford Mercon, and Mercedes Benz Automatic Transmission Fluid and is suitable for
GM, late model Ford, or any vehicle which recommends Dexron IID or Dexron IIE or Mercon for refill."
To help you with the homework you failed to do, here are some off many links you could find on the internet on this sobject:
"Many manufacturers require special ATF for particular transmission designs. For example, some Toyota all-wheel-drive (AWD) vehicles require a special Type T fluid, and no acceptable substitute exists."
http://www.csaa.com/global/articlede...7C2025,00.html
"Other vehicle manufacturers may also have special dealer-only fluids. For example some Lexus models require Toyota Type T II fluid, which has different requirements from the fluids discussed above. Always consult your lubrication guide or the vehicle owner's manual for ATF recommendations to insure that you are using the correct ATF in each application."

Or you could visit Peter Scott's web site (old one)http://www.users.bigpond.com/pgscott.../autotrans.htm
Or you can simply use a SEARCH option on the ClubLexus web site.
They are applicable substitutes and just because it doesn't state every darn manufactured brand fluid ON THE WEB doesn't mean a thing. Do some hand on research rather then just posting other opinions from THE COMFORT OF YOUR DESK LIKE the website "AAA" . Do you honestly think the only fluid you can use in the A300 series transmission has to be Toyota only brand?
Cam2 can also be used and they state it! http://www.cam2.com/c2universalatfdm5p3.htm
