Anyone have this problem.....the other day my passenger window dropped about 2" without touching the switch. Tried to use the switch on both the driver and passenger side, but it would not bring the window back up. Was able to push the window up manually, using my hand presure . Actually I can move the window up and down now using one hand on the inside and one on the outside. From that point on both driver and passenger switch will only bring the passenger window down but not back up. The passenger window has dropped the 2" inches several times since, with the same result......any ideas....??

NYBobby, WELCOME TO CL. t's probably time to get a new window holder (i dunno whats its called) We ha dthis problem with a Toyota Previa we used to have. I think u should be able to go to pep boyus, auto zone, etc. and explain it to them and they could hook u up. If you can take apart the door urself (do a search on here), u could probably fix it. It something wrong with the metal arms and/or gearing that supports the mirror.
BTW: Where are you loc. in FL? I go to college in Winter Park (Rollins) and there r a handful of members in Orlando area and in Miami, etc.

Thanks for the info....so this is not a lexus part thing, but more of a generic part...?? I've already
taken the inner door pannel off, will I be able to get to it from there...?
BTW, I'm in Delray Beach, FL.

I have the exact same problem. I took my car (1992 SC400) to the local Toyota dealer and he told me it is a bad window regulator. He said it is fairly common problem. Part is about $75.00 TO $85.00.
I had the same thing happen to the passsenger window on my '92 SC300. I bought a new Regulator for $101 at a Lexus dealership then went to a local Upholstery & Glass Repair shop and paid them $50 to replace the broken part. - Good luck

Thanks for all the help.
The problem did turn out to be a regulator, but the price has gone up.
Lexus gets $145 for the part, and I got it installed locally for $120.
$165 total, good thing the motor was good.

I just had my Sc300 out for a ride on the highway when I hear a loud clunk from the passanger side door. I continue on the highway and the window continues to lower itself into the door. I decide to pull over and pull it up, however the shoulders of the road has strips cut into the pavement to alert sleepy drivers. By the time I stopped the car, driving over the strips sent the window all the way down. I pulled the door panels off with excellent help through this forum to find the window still in it's tracks and the power motor working appropriately. I can't get in to see if the cables are broken but that would be my guess. Has anyone taken on a power window repair or is this a dealer deal?
