crusty coolant leaking from reservoir

Default crusty coolant leaking from reservoir
Why is coolant leaking out of the lid here?

Is there some back pressure causing this?

At the other end of the rubber hose (off the right edge of photo) connecting to the engine block, there's also coolant seeping out.

Is there an o-ring under the cap or does it just snap on?
