Route 66 extended warranty 3K mile oil change requirement
Since I have heard/read mostly good things about the Route 66 extended warranty, I was thinking about getting one through my credit union for the 2005 Lexus RX330 with 86K miles I recently purchased. One of the questions I had and asked a customer rep at Route 66 about was the requirement that the vehicle owner MUST have engine oil and filter changes every 3 months or 3K miles for the warranty to be valid (stated under the "terms of agreement" section). The rep said that yes, that was true, even though I mentioned that the maintenance schedule for my vehicle states oil/filter changes every 5 months or 5K miles.
Has anybody used this warranty and how has the oil change issue been handled? Thanks.

I have the Route 66 warranty and although I do maintain scheduled oil changes I have never been asked that when warranty work has been performed. I do not get my oil changes where I get my warranty work done either.

unfortunately, I've read about people inquiring directly, and, they don't care if the manufacturers interval is triple what they say, they still require the oil changes every 3k.
you may not have to worry for most things, but if you needed a motor replaced and they questioned it, you could be in for some trouble if you don't have proof...
