Thumbs up What happened to codes???

The three codes I had for ABS and evap were gone today when car was started. Will they come back or could it have been an error?
Still using a lot of gas
Any suggestions??

Your car will run a self test over night on the evap system(depending on the year or car) and if all systems pass the light will turn off but codes will still be stored in the ecu. If you just recently got gas the cap may be loose.

As for the and if you have the code that would help. If it was the "vsc" "trac" light that light comes on anytime the check engine light turns on.

Hope this helps.

Default The codes are back

Thank you so much for explaining so I understand a little better.
The codes are
C1223
C1241
P0442

I have replaced the battery with one approved by Lexus and today I bought a new gas cap the old one was all dis colored and the seal was almost non existant.
Is there any way you can tell me where and what I need to be checking on ABS?
I will be doing this on my own and can use any advice at all. I have to try to have it fixed before I head to Texas next month. This sounds stupid but please try to be as if you were talking to a child . This venture is not only new to me it all sounds foreign to me.
Thanks again

C1223 sets any time there is a code stored in either the engine ECU or abs/trac ECU. Its a generic "theres something wrong" code.

C1241 is a code for high or low battery voltage. So if you recently had a dead battery, or changed your battery as you indicated, i wouldnt worry too much.

P0442 is an evap code for a small leak. You said you replaced the gas cap already due to it being old and deteriorated.

I would clear the codes, and drive the car like normal and see if they reappear.

I had another test done before having it reset and two new codes came up
P0456
C1201
They reset and if it does as before by tomorrow the lights will be on again. The dealer I bought it from is supposed to have his mechanic look at it to tell me what needs to be fixed, I just have to see if he goes through with his word or not.
You have been very helpful thank you so much and I'll post the out come.

C1201 is another generic "theres something wrong" code.. it sets any time a code sets in the engine ECU.

P0456 is a very small leak code for the evap system. So it may be possible that you still have a leak, either at the gas cap, or somewhere else in the evap system. Hoses going to the intake manifold are pretty typical leak points, as they get old, brittle, and split.
