Questions about Certified Pre-Owned warrantee.
I would appreciate it if someone could shed a little light. I just found out that the 98 ES 300 that I bought used with 75K was a former C.P.O. vehicle. A quick call to the local Lexus dealer verified that the warrantee runs thru 4/2004. I have no service records from the 35K point to 75K.
Anyway, is this warrantee equivalent to the new car warrantee? Would suspension components, in particular struts, be covered items? I realize that with that gap in the service records, engine components in particular might be a hard sell for warrantee coverage. Electrical items and the like would probably still be covered I would think.
Oh, and also, is this warrantee transferrable? Thanks in advance for any helpful responses.

If you bought the '98 ES300 from a private party, who bought it CPO from a Lexus dealer, then the warranty is not in effect. Bad news, the CPO warranty is not transferable.
As for the "missing" maintenance records, did the dealership tell you there was a gap or did the person you bought it from tell you that? Usually, you can contact your local dealer's service department and ask for their assistance. Since you are asking for a free favor, be a good sport about it and try to call them in the middle of the day as it tends to be slightly slower during that time. If you want, an additional warranty can be purchased through the finance department, just ask to speak to one of the finance managers to get a quote. Good luck!
